Basel (A) | CL | Tue 6 Dec 19:45

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Two ways to look at it. My way would be to play a weakened side (which should still be good enough to beat basel) and save sanchez and Co for Stoke. But wengers way will probably play full strength pick up a load of knocks and still finish second as ludo are the worst team in cl history and have no chance at PSG. :banghead: :banghead:
Worst team in cl history...... shows what I know :blah:

That game must have really upset a lot of people on her - played great, Perez got a hattie and we finished top of the group.

Yepp, Gooners are having a brilliant time over here in Basel :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: , prices a bit steep (right expression) though.

Nice win - Only downer was the introduction of Feo. He back-passed to their keeper after a decent run, gave the ball to the opposition on the only other 3 times he touched the ball & tackled nobody. Why do we expect him to be benched for the next game ?. I don't & he won't. We almost play with 10 men every week he starts. :barscarf: :barscarf:

Well fair play we got through as the winners of pur group.

If I am honest I only want to win the thing once to get the monkey of our clubs back after that I give zero shits about the thing, I would rather win our top division than that every year.

But that told well done lads, I was calling wenker out for starting first team players as I thought it was a dead rubber

Potential opponents are

Benfica

Porto/Copenhagen

Bayern Munich

Real Madrid/Dortmund

Sevilla/Juventus

Monaco/Leverkusen

Id take any of them, except for Bayern or Madrid/Dortmund.

Even Juventus wouldn't be the worst team in the world to play.

Great to win and to also win the group..Basel had a few chances but in reality were very poor and along with Ludogorets are systematic of what is wrong with this overcrowded tournament..
Still not convinced we are going anywhere in this..

Dortmund aren't s great side - well off the pace in this years Bundesliga again and their capitulation at last year's tie at Anfield was embarrassing. Can't complaint at getting that sort of side in a knockout draw bearing in mind there's little chance of them threatening to win the thing.

Drawing Bayern would be a complete waste of everyone's time but other than that I wouldn't mind having a crack at Real or Juventus as we haven't played either of them in recent years (probably not since we turfed them both out en route to the final).

After the Monaco debacle of a couple of years ago, I'm taking nothing for granted, regardless of who we draw. I would be happy enough with a bit of progress, even to make it to a semi-final.
