As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Most independent Wenger-watchers acknowledge that had he not got out of jail in the FA Cup semi against Wigan and then final against Hull in 2014, he would probably not have signed the last three-year contract at the end of that season. Can't prove it, of course, but I would settle for the hope that defeat will give us.
If anyone wants a less contentious reason for being ok with us losing to Citeh in the semi (which few would remember for long), it is to avoid being bumholed in the final by either Chelsea or Tottenham (which would live long in everyone's memory). That really would make me feel sick to the core, so I'd prefer to avoid its inevitability. Nobody has lost a final by more than four goals since Bury beat Derby in 1903. Can you imagine the headlines? No thank you.
So, for those reasons, I will come out and say it even if others won't. It will be a merciful relief if we lose, and can only load the dice further against him than it is now, whether by a small margin or a significant one. The other part of the equation is finishing outside the top four, and here we can no longer rely on Man United who have a clear path the the Champs League and are picking up injuries by the bucket-load. We should finish fifth, so it is probably only the FA Cup that gives TOF another excuse to cling on. If we reach the final, there is no upside.
So, once in a Blue Moon.......head 1 heart 0 for me
I understand your logic, but by the same reasoning you could argue that if losing to Citeh will be quickly forgotten, then it wouldn't have much impact on AW. However, a 4-0 loss to the Chavs in the final (I can't bring myself to consider it against the Scum) would be humiliating for us AND him and, coupled with a sixth or seventh placed finish, might just encourage him to fuck the fuck off.
Still wouldn't happen, contract is signed, and even a defeat to the w*nkers in the final would not shame him,the board are just waiting for a happy time to announce the new deal, wouldn't be surprised to hear it if we win sunday,
Personally I'd be amazed if this current shower of shit got to the final,it's fucking awful we feel a defeat in a major semi will benefit the club for the long term, you couldn't imagine that years ago,we'd all be buzzing about the game, sadly not now.

The reason why people might want the team to lose - agree or not - is generally because they do actually care deeply about the club and think it may hasten along the departure of this selfish prick who has completely changed the club for the worse and turned it into something unrecognisable in the last decade.
The moment that I find I no longer care about whether or not there is anything resembling a proper football club in the rubble of Arsene FC when he finally fucks off, I won't bother coming on forums or watching any more football. Until that time forgive me if I don't whip myself into a frenzy about a meaningless April Monday night game at Middlesbrough that may determine whether we finish 6th or 7th and 22 or 25 points off the winners.

No doubt some will feel that I am being naïve, but I just don't agree with that - imo if it was signed it would have been announced by now. Can anyone come up with even one realistic reason why a signed contract wouldn't have been announced by now ? Don't make yourselves look stupid by suggesting that the club are waiting for a good result/performance to announce it at a time when hostilities wont be running high, because that would suggest that the club and wenker actually give a fcuk about the fans response to the new contract, when we all know that if they gave a fcuk wenger wouldn't be getting a new contract anyway
To my mind some people are using this "the contract is already signed" as a lazy excuse to do nothing as in a "what's the point in joining in with the protests or contributing financially if the deal is already signed", kind of bullshit

Maybe its because tempers are a bit frayed they are waiting til the end of the season or pre-season to announce it,I don't know,I just think as much as we want him gone it'll be the same thing next year, maybe the club have had something to think about the last month but still did the deed anyway,I wish I had your enthusiasm that he was going, and I hope you are right and it's not been offered, all we can do is wait and see,
I'm not using it as an excuse, even if the deal is done the stickers will stay in place in the cars (thanks xisstential) and my views wont change,I'll still want him gone, and may the protests continue.

As much as I have lost faith in football because of Wenger, I just cant not want to win this game.
I really detest City, and would love to beat them. Even just to go on the Manchester Evening News Man City section, and revel in the meltdown of City slickers who genuinely believe they are Barcelona/Real Madrid/Bayern Munich worthy.

No it doesn't.
Wanting him to leave but doing nothing about it makes people part of the problem (no idea if you fall into that category).
He does. Rubbished pretty much all the ideas put forward on the protest thread
d
Did I really or did you just read that from someone else's narcissism fueled rant and jump on the bandwagon ?
I realise your lazy and not very bright but if you go back and read my posts ,you will find ideas and messages of support not to mention money.
I did caution about the effectiveness of a 13th min protest and taking moral high grounds that don't exist but that aside I like you have been cheering the protesters on and raised an a4 sheet during the West Ham game which is the only 1 I've been to this year .
That doesn't make me Che ,but it doesn't make me the enemy either nor does wanting the team to win make me an AKB which some idiots would have me be.
I also have issues with the American political standpoint that if you don't agree with everything I do then your as bad as the enemy approach ,but that's a subtlety which many fail to grasp but I cant be arsed to go into that again.
So thanks for the label cloaked goner and may the fleas from a thousand camels balls lie in the mouth of your firstborn.
Sorry if this is 'off message' but it is our obsession with Tot-num that has played a significant part in keeping Wenger afloat with the sheep in our fanbase for so long.
Shamefully, we have been Chelsea's bitches for 13 years and counting, ever since they beat us in the QF of the Champions' League in the invincibles season. They have consistently beaten us or humiliated us (6-0), taken our best players and ex-players at will, signed players who should have been ours (Kante) and won countless trophies including becoming the first London club to win the Champions' League.
Instead of feeling the pain and the shame of being in Chelsea's wake for so long, the general view of too many of our fans has been "well at least we're still above Tottenham, which is what really matters....St Totteringham's Day.....forever in our shadow". Frankly, it's bollocks in the grand scheme of things. Let their fans obsess about us - we're bigger than that. Or rather, we should be.
I would hate to lose to Chelsea every bit as much as I would hate to lose to Tottenham. Because only when we start to feel the anger and pain of being so clearly second-best to them can we set the standards we need to aspire to. And because I despite Chelsea with a passion.
Cue lots of indignant responses about "how can any gooner hate another club as much as Tottenham". Each to their own, I guess. I hate Chelsea's arrogance, the way they bastardised the game with financial doping before Citeh even thought of it, their chavvy fans and penchant for attracting the most horrible players imaginable, like Terry and Costa.
