To be honest, i dont buy the Wenger leaving would mean a lot of players leaving thing. What happened when Mourinho left? How are Chelsea coping with a less than average manager? They are coping because they have more world class players, they have leaders on the field.
Wenger like any other manager in a professional league should be judged based on his performances in relation to the resources available to him.

Agree with most of it, but Flamster? Are you assuming he is leaving?dvbrisgooner1 wrote:I don't want Wenger to go. If we win the European Cup (which I seriously doubt we are capable of) it should not paper over the cracks which are so obvious.
We need a new goalkeeper. We need a stopper centre-half who is willing to attack the ball in the air (like Senderos) and is able to out-muscle the likes of Drogba (unlike Senderos - and I'm not getting at him as he has done really well since Christmas) to replace Gallas. We need a proper left winger who isn't injured all the time. We need a muscular presence in midfield to replace Flamini (who has also been outstanding but can not be expected to win battles against people like Essien and Gerrard). We need a goalscorer who can be consistent. If that means we have to spend a lot of money then so be it, but I am severely pissed off at the way our league campaign has gone up in smoke.

Your name 'BringbackPires' says a lot mate..
Bring back a 33-34 year old that wouldn't cope with the pace to compete at the top level of the premiership anymore.
Same applies with Lehmann
And to say get rid of Wenger is an ABSOLUTE JOKE.
In Pires's first league game for Villareal, he scored the opening goal against Barcelona in a game they won 2-0. Did Hleb do this in the Champions League final? Has he done fuck all since? No.
To this day, Pires is a better player RIGHT NOW than Hleb could ever aspire to be. And if you don't believe me, just turn on La Liga on Sky Sports.
I do agree that Pires is still quality. I think letting him go is possibly the only mistake Wenger has ever made in letting players go.
Bentley aswell arguably, but I'd rather not have that arrogant little cock in my team anyway.
I've always loved Pires. It's a shame he had that long injury when he left us, but as you say, he has been on cracking form for Villareal this season and still looks the part. He definitely had atleast 3 more years in him for Arsenal and it's such a shame he left.
Hleb is just too inconsistent. On his day he is certainly as good as Pires.

No, I just think that when it comes to the big games in ENGLAND he lacks the necessary muscle. He's no Petit is he? That's my point. I'm not criticising the lad in any way, but I just think he is a squad player at the top level. I stand to be shot down of course.Fabby is a Foot (Leg-end) wrote:Agree with most of it, but Flamster? I'm not saying that the board should sack him as such, because he doesn't deserve it. He hasn't been on a Keegan-esque run of desire results that should result in him finding work elsewhere.>Lethal~Prodigy< wrote:Bring Back Pires wrote:His views don't match up with mine, so ban him!>Lethal~Prodigy< wrote:if anyone belives wenger should be sacked just ban them from the forum
no mate, that comment was clearly a joke and to be honest if you belive wenger should be sacked then you are stupid
But at the same time, he's gone a season unbeaten, unearthed the world's greatest player and taken us to a new stadium.
In my view, there's not much more he can do with the club at this time. The squad isn't ready to challenge for the title (as witnessed in the last five games), and with the best will in the world, I can't see Wenger winning us anything ever again.
So maybe he should leave by mutual consent and let someone else take over. Nobody likes change, but it's inevitable.
Wenger has been such a great manager, that I want to remember him for his amazing achievements, rather than remembering him as someone who dribbled out his career with no success.

Don't agree with that. I think (a) he does have the stength and (b) he has the speed and the passing ability to cover where he is lacking. Agree with the rest you said but Flamster staying is key to our sucess next season.dvbrisgooner1 wrote:No, I just think that when it comes to the big games in ENGLAND he lacks the necessary muscle. In a recent book published by Arsenal, fans and ex-players voted Pires into their Arsenal all-time XI team (successfully; he was listed in the book). Could you honestly tell me that Hleb could be viewed in the same light?Matt M wrote:Bring Back Pires wrote:GallasVoice wrote:TBH...

As I mentioned the other day, when thinking back on Pires, you'd think of his goals against Aston Villa, Southamption, and the Cup Final. Could you think of any stand-out Hleb moment in his "career"?

Pires spent 6 years with us, Hleb has only been here a couple of years.
After a couple of years, nobody would have voted Pires anywhere near the greatest 11 !!
