There is a reason no other top club were in for Woedegard, and he could never get a look in at Madrid.

8th-10th again this season.

Arteta Out.
Woedegard, really!

The lad joined us in the January window having hardly played any football for the first half of the season.

More experienced, more seasoned pros have struggled to adapt to our league so what we saw from him in those 6 months shouldn't be dismissed as crap.

Robert Pires was awful in his first season and he didn't turn out too bad.

It appears that loads on here expect every new player to hit the ground running and produce world class displays from day 1.
Hes definetly not crap Clummo.....but you can use same logic when i first saw Petit and Viera play in their first game....was totally amazed...they were
incredible
Very few players hit new clubs like that though. And even less so nowadays where every club seems to know every player from the age of 10.

Wenger certainly used his knowledge of French football back then for our benefit.

im wondering how long it would take for Ramsdale to actually claim the no 1 spot, i mean i cant see leno all of a sudden becoming error free so surely its only a matter of most likely a couple of months if not weeks before he becomes the no 1.

Funny how we sign two players just before the planned protests before the Chavski game?.

It will still go ahead, we signed nothing special; a RM reject and a relegated keeper who wanted out.

For the record I'm not against signing Odegaard but it's a bit daft to do so when his position is basically covered and there are far more important positions that aren't.

My guess is he will be n1 for all cup games for now, maybe gets a look towards the end of the season with nothing to fight but 8-10th spot.

Come on mate, a "Real Madrid reject" !

With that attitude did you class Henry as a Juventus reject or Bergkamp as an Inter reject because they certainly were.

And anyway it's Real Madrid not Real Sociedad or Real Betis.

I could get behind the Ramsdale signing if it means binning off Leno now.

I’ve backed him big time on this forum but his form has bombed so badly in the last 12 months that it’s time to cut him lose. Poor in the air, shocking distribution and worst of all a bit of a fucking cowardly pussy to boot.

Hope we start to see a few sales now - Leno, Bellerin, Laca, one of Holding/Chambers, Nelson, Eddie, Runarrson. Flush as much shit down the bowl as we can before the window closes.

I saw enough of him to see there is a very good player there, if we can bring it out of him.
In his first few matches, he was getting in great positions, between the lines but our lot were not passing to him.

Maybe, his positive attitude while here, and if he enjoyed his time, was a factor in getting him over Aouar ?

I would have preferred a right back, as a priority, who can defend first and foremost, but think Odergaard will be a good addition for the future.

At the moment, I have no idea what is our first 11, (and don’t think Arteta does either) and if we don’t change our playing “style” of passing square and backwards we will be in for a similar revolt as at the end of Wenker’s tenure.

Anybody got a banner that needs holding up ? :barscarf:

Right now, I wouldnt pay the entry price to watch us in person, or spend my entire day travelling down and back to watch turgid shit, I rarely get excited when we score, and similarly don’t get upset when we concede or get a defeat - it’s just so mind numbingly boring.

Arteta’ s team is as poor to watch as when he was playing for us in midfield - setting the safety first approach.

Odegaard isn't the worst signing we could make. The appealing aspect of it is that he is still very young. I fully agree that ESR is a better 10, and will continue to get better, however he also seems to be made of glass. Having Odegaard as cover, maybe dropping back to CM time to time isn't a bad option. It's a signing that adds a bit of depth. Saka can also play on the right if needed, ESR on the left and Odegaard in the 10, of needed.

Not my first choice (none of who we signed this summer would be first choice, but whatever) but I think it's a good signing in terms of options/depth.

No offence to you buddy, but that is the line of thought that has me scratching my head - do you honestly believe that he is being bought to provide cover ? He will be instated as first choice by end september and that will stunt the "continue to get better" point about smith-rowe. I would also add that good teams add depth in transfer windows - teams of our level of quality need to build stronger starting 11s before focusing on depth

To be honest, augie; I think we should have two players in every position, competing with each other for a starting place. I don't like nailed-on starters, I like the idea of competition. I would like to think that competition for a starting place would make BOTH ESR and Odegaard better players.

I see your point because we all know that Arteta has his favourites and his nailed-on starters. It could likely be the case that ESR is pushed out wide more, which isn't where he is best used. We know what should happen, and sadly we know what will actually happen.

that's exactly the key thing. We've so far got rid of nothing!
