Why the fuck is Paul Scholes relevant all of a sudden?

Wouldn't have been such a fuss if it wasn't for Wenger's utterly arrogant and disrespectful response. From what I saw Scholes wasn't launching a personal attack on Wenger and he wasn't second guessing or dissecting Wenger's management. He gave his opinion that we are miles away from winning the league.

It's one thing belittling the average fan's opinion but it's unbelievably disrespectful and bollocks to suggest a bloke who has won 11 PL titles has no idea of a team's title credentials. Given that Scholes won 8 more titles than Wenger has I'm inclined to think he has a good idea about what it takes to win the league, more than Wenger does.

In Wenger's mind the only people who can criticise him are fellow experienced managers - and if they comment on his record it's disrespectful. I honestly think this is every bit as disrespectful as the 'specialist in failure' comments and not provoked like in that case. I hate Scholes and I imagine he makes a terrible pundit as he's notorious for shying away from the camera but Wenger's comment reflects extremely badly on the club.

I understand what you're saying but I don't think it takes Paul Scholes to point out the clear deficiencies at the club. What I don't understand is why Arsenal fans are apparently happy to see (and defend) the words of a bitter United player. Are we going to stop and listen to Teddy Sheringham because he won the league as many times as Wenger?

I agree that it doesn't need Scholes to point out deficiencies. To be honest it doesn't matter what Scholes said or if it's true, if Wenger had just brushed it off and said he's entitled to his opinion but I disagree and we're still in touching distance it would have been a non-story.

Frankly Wenger has made himself look like an utter twat by suggesting that a player who has won 11 PL titles doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to winning the PL as he's never managed. I don't really give a shit if he offends that dirty ginger prick but it's embarrassing for Wenger and the club. I'm not saying you have to like or even respect Scholes but if you ignore his achievements and think he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to winning the PL you're a complete idiot.

Wenger literally thinks only other experienced managers are fit to judge him and if they do it's unprofessional and disrespectful. If ever anyone needed confirmation that he thinks he is immune from criticism this is it. The man that has an opinion on everyone and everything.

In fairness, Scholes was one of the most successful players, playing for one of the most successful teams, and therefore he is entitled to his opinion. Are you honestly saying that only ex Arsenal players have the right to be critical of the club? Also id much prefer an honest opinion of anyone, over the repetitive bullshit that Wenger sprouts, and if anyone is even slightly critical he throws his toys out of the pram.

Cant find a digital version of this article from todays Sun, but it looks like heavy spin from a pro Wenger source, intended to soften us supporters up before the new contract is made public.
Fools no one, we will hang on to fourth spot by winning our last 6 (easier) matches.
Then Wenger will endorse his faith in this group of players and when the injured players are back expects to be challenging for the title next season.

Gazidis will be along shortly to confirm that there are significant funds available for the manager to strenghten the team in the Summer.......send in the renewals boys.....for the 9th year in a row he's gonna spend big !
