The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Ideally want Schneiderlin in the summer. He was never coming in Jan, and would rather we got someone who will actually improve us than just someone who is there. Defender was signed so hope he works out. Didn't expect anything else.

Honestly all we need in the summer is Schneiderlin, a quality striker, possibly another CB, and a back-up keeper and we should have a strong enough squad.

Oh, and a new manager.

Personally I think that carvalho or wanyama would be a better fit for our needs - those guys are proper DM's (in the strictest sense of the word) and I wonder how much praise would scneiderlin be getting if he wasnt scoring goals from midfield :rubchin: The reality is that southampton play wanyama as a DM behind scneiderlin so they musnt view him as a proper DM either, and seeing as most Gooners agree that it is a DM that we need, one would have to wonder if he is the right guy for the job

I want a new manager more than a DM or any player.

Could be your lucky day 'Arry has become available..needs a bit of knee surgery, best way to get to know our players..join them in the treatment room.

Perfect for us. He will become the best of friends with Diaby.

It's a sad endictment of what AW has done to me that his attempt to correct a monumental error in going into the new season with only two CBs, by signing a CB no-one, including most of my mates here , have ever heard of, made me feel quite satisfied.

I think because your expectations have been shaped by years of Arsene business.

It's realistic to say that summer is a better time to buy. The problem with that is....

Not at all. I'm just saying he wasn't available in this window. Southampton are flying and wouldn't sell. You have more of a chance in the summer. Not saying we'll get him, but this time of year to get THAT player, it was pretty impossible.

I'll be honest i'm not 100% convinced that Schneiderlin is exactly what we need.

If Coquelin continues to improve over the rest of the season then maybe Schneiderlin could be used in matches where we are playing for example 4-4-2 and defensively in tougher away matches but with the current set-up i dont think he is disciplined/good enough to play the central holding role whilst others bomb on around him.

I still think we need another proper out and out CDM, and in all honestly i'd feel that even if Coq continues to play well, neither Captain Stupid or Arteta are good enough to fill in if Coq had a few weeks or more out with injury.

Not sure how others of you rate Schneiderlin and i have to admit i haven't seen or paid that much attention to him until recently :rubchin:

We are in effect one injury from a stuff up in the DM role now even if Coq continues to show his meaty side.

I cant see Arteta playing many more matches for us now, and Flamoni just isnt up to the mark these days (if he ever was really  ), even his staunchest supporter DB10 can see that now

Astounding that last season it was the CF we were short in, then cb earlier this season and now DM. Still I guess no AKB will have the ability to look beyond the Wenger thread so it wont bother them :barscarf:

Another player with a daft ‘Chelsea Premium’ – Ryan Bertrand, sold to S’oton for £10m. I suppose when compared to £35m for Shaw it’s not bad but this is a player who has been shafted around 10 times on loan and was clearly surplus to requirements.

Who the fuck is negotiating these deals and why is it we seem to get comparatively rinsed?

The DM position is one that we need to upgrade on for years and certainly more than the other positions (and I'm saying that as one who from the get go thought that almunia was not good enough). I would go so far as to say that we havent had a proper DM since PV4 left - I know that many of you rated gilberto but, even though I liked him, I always felt that he was more of an interceptor rather than the type of guy you needed in a 50/50 tackle

Well we did pay 16 million quid for Calum Chambers
