Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Totally different situation.

On RVP, all players do shit like this. Remember Rooney a few years back? A similar statement came out from him. Its a job for them at the end of the day. I'm sure we would all do the same. What I don't like is they're not honest about it.

So do you believe this is a ploy to get the club to loosen the purse strings then rigsby ? It often gets overlooked because of his huge pay hike but shreks demands at that time did succeed in getting manure to open the purse strings and they have spent considerably since. Yes it is a job for all these players but it is a job with potential for some serious perks - people talk about how rvp could earn a lot more elsewhere but even staying with us he has the potential to earn more through win bonuses if he was in a successful side but with this squad of players that just isnt gonna happen  He might believe that by speaking out publicly like this, the club might invest properly in bringing in quality players that would increase his chances of glory significantly thus he would have got a bumper pay rise, a bumper signing on fee and some win bonuses as part of a successful team 8)

All that being said though, I honestly dont believe rvp's position has changed one bit since last week

My thoughts exactly

Im getting tired of this will he wont he shite season in and season out with our players. Either sign on and show some passion for the club you "supposedly love", or do one.

Ok I just wrote something and it didn't show up, bloody forum keeps booting me out for some reason and getting me to log back in!

Well I can't be asked to re write what I just typed as I'm doing this on my phone, but in a nut shell I hope he does stay and re sign, yes I'm pissed off with him but in a way I hope this has given the board a kick up the backside!
Oh and I hope Stan eventually leaves and sells his shares and usmanov takes over!

Augie, I think its possible it could be a tacticial ploy. This whole 'direction of the club' is a line trotted out by many but it doesn't often ring true. I don't know for sure he's done this to get some more money, but it was all a rather odd statement to me. What if Arsenal went out and signed Messi tomorrow would RVP suddenly stay? It just seemed really odd thing for someone to do.

lets be honest here that from now on he is only going to get worse not better, his best days are behind him and over the years his service to the club has been satisfactory at best but I suppose we should be grateful that he kept the physio dept in employment for so long.

If £15M can be obtained for his services that would be brilliant business.

Oh my patience went about 37 pages ago.....Robin, if you really do love the club then either hand in a transfer request or sign on the dotted line. Don't fuck us all about please, show the fans (who again you claim to love) some respect.

I am also thinking in this direction. We do not need a U turn from him now.

He doesn't need to do either, he has said he won't sign and that is his perogative.

Its up to the club where this goes, van Persie has been clear that he has one more year at the club even.if he has handled it badly.

We are not in limbo, the only reason we might be would be down to the club.and what they want to.do.in this situation, they need to clarify things more than that silly statement ie saying 'unless we get 30 he is staying for one more year.

Possible effect on rvp's future ?

Milan are known to be admirers of our captain so selling ibra for big money would certainly provide the funds for buying the man

Giroud Was Bought To Replace Van Persie, Claims Arsenal Scout

Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi has admitted that the club signed Olivier Giroud as a replacement for unsettled striker Robin van Persie, according to Goal.com.

The Gunners signed Giroud from French champions Montpellier last month amid rumours that captain Van Persie is set to leave the club.

Van Persie made his intention not to sign a new contract at the Emirates public last week, and with just 12 months to run on his current deal, the signs are that the Dutchman will end his 8-year stay in north London this summer.

Former Gunners midfielder Grimandi, who now works as a scout with the club, has admitted that the club bought the 25-year-old with RVP’s future in mind.

Grimandi also confirmed Arsenal are doing all they can to keep the 30-goal striker but admitted that every player has his price:

Expect a bid from Milan now.

They've just sold Zlatan to PSG.

What would really stick in the craw would be if he ended up fucking off to an inferior team like Milan given that they've just sold two of their star players.
