RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Condolences Officepest,

I've lost a couple of ex football team mates in the last 5 years (different sides) both younger than 40 and it really makes you think that the motto to live every day as if its your last is one to live your life by.

Completely agree, I've lost two close friends now to heart failure, both early thirties and it just defies logic. It makes me wonder if my lifestyle in my twenties is going to catch me up unawares as I approach my late thirties.

Wow, got a bit Maudlin there :| I guess what I'm driving at is you really never know when your time's up, so make the most of the days you do have. :barscarf:

The Pogues guitarist Philip Chevron (Philp Ryan), 56, died after losing his long battle with bloody cancer.

Thousands Are Sailing was written by Chevron, as was the song Lorelei.

RIP.

---------------------

* sorry to read about your mate officepest. 34 is no bloody age.

Not sure he should be mentioned here, infamous life.

He reckoned to have killed 20 or so people (mostly drug dealers) and alleged that the Police colluded with him in doing so. He was however never convicted of murder, so it could have all been bollocks, but he was still a very dangerous individual by all accounts.

Became quite the cult figure in Oz too, in a Dave Courtney or 'mad' Frankie Fraser kind of way.

There was an hour documentary interview with him last night.
He admitted to FOUR murders, the first when he was just 17 y/o.
A punishment he use to dish out was to get the bloke to lay in the road and open his mouth onto the kerb and then jump on the blokes head.
Charming.

Niall Donaghue RIP...Galway hurler who died suddenly a day before his 23rd birthday... Conflicting reports on cause of his death but regardless and regardless of any sporting allegiances this man had passed away far too young..
