THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I posted the link because it is a strong allegation for an article.

As with all these things, it is entirely possible it has been 100% made up, or comes from a garbled remark heard third hand from someone who knows a relative of a player?

Or maybe there is something to it, and a senior player or official has used the press to leak something they want known?

But seeing as how it is a subject frequently discussed on here (tactics, or lack of) I posted it. It is not as if someone will immediately cancel their match tickets on the basis of that article.
No criticism of you for posting it mate, you didn't write the article! Like I said, I hope it's true and he's losing the dressing room. :barscarf:

As has been said, there is no hard evidence or quotes to support that article, but it is entirely believable due to what we have seen unfold on the pitch in the big games. It isn't the first of its type appearing in the press either, especially recently.

Be very afraid after his press conference this morning. When pressed on a poor league season he replied on the lines that we lead the league 17 times but only fell away when we lost our players. Asked about a major overhaul in the Summer he replied that we will see where we finish. (not exact words..)...that sounds like if we get fourth all will be ok.

It's only a matter of time before he comes out saying we spent the most time on top of the league than any other club this season. Yeah until the business end of things when we collapsed

Is funny how people believe such claims in the paper when it suits their agenda.
Is pathetic and funny at the same time.

Sorry, no, I don't believe for one minute that our mollycoddled mercenaries would even consider for one minute biting the hand that feeds them £50K - £80K a week.

At the outside, I might concede it is possible that Ozil may have muttered something as he strikes me as a winner who is not happy with virtual trophies. The fucking rest? My arse.

Maybe some DB10, but there are a few ambitious players within the squad who do not play purely for the money - I would suggest that BFG, tv5, sagna, cazorla, ozil, podolski and maybe even rosicky want to win medals at this stage. Yes it is true that the british and French contingent would be well happy to continue coining it in but others are more ambitious imo. Ozil would be used to playing for some of the best teams and managers in the world and I have no doubt that he will have been shell-shocked to see first hand how amateur our preparation really is  Maybe I am generalising a bit but by their nature german's are all about preparation and organisation (and you can see in BFG this season a man hungry to win) so I envisage frustration will have been simmering for some time now.

These days (thankfully) we don't have as many French, African and young impressionable players as we had in recent seasons so that bond/debt to wenker isn't as common these days I suspect and I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss these rumours nowadays

4th! He doesnt need to be that good. 5th or 6th will be more than adequate.
The statement from Kroenke the other week was more telling.
He has already give his backing to Wenger after the successful period of leading the league this season and he has totally bought into the crap that we only fell away because some players got injured.

I don't envisage anything being any different this summer at all.
Wenger will think well I led the league for 4 months so there is really not too much wrong. this is what we will hear all summer and by August the AKB will be brainwashed into believing it.

Kroenke knows and cares fuck all about football. He's a business man who's all about profits. No surprises then that Wenger has his full backing.

Don Howe was criticised for spending too much time on the opposition.

People that dismiss the story purely because it doesn't include current players putting their names to it, are being naive. Like any of them would be courageous enough to risk being alienated by the manager and his followers. Whether people choose to believe the story or not, the author of the story Matt Law is a gooner and therefore I wouldn't expect him to write something like that purely for malicious reasons. There is plenty of evidence of previously players commenting about Wenger's reluctance to do much work on the opposition, in comparison to other managers, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch of the imagination to believe his refusal to change his out-dated methods includes this little matter. :rubchin:

I love the perception that kroenke is an excellent businessman - if a guy screwing himself into one of the wealthiest families in America qualifies him as being a shrewd businessman, then I guess kroenke is up there in bill gates territory  If a woman "came" (no pun intended) into wealth that way, she would be branded as a money grabber or a wag but different rules apply I guess
