why can't we have a manger like Simeone :

If you asked Diego Simeone how his Atletico Madrid team have overcome all the odds to progress to the Champions League semi-finals as well as topping La Liga with just six games remaining, he would provide you with a simple answer: "Hard work and humility."

In the days of Arab sheikhs, Russian oligarchs and American business tycoons, low-budget teams like Atletico simply aren't supposed to do this well. Yet here they are, with less than six weeks of the season remaining, still in strong contention for the two most prestigious prizes on offer.

That is, indeed, largely down to the relentless work ethic instilled by Simeone. But it would be very wrong to suggest that Atletico's current success is simply down to the fact that they run around a lot, because there is also a huge amount of quality and intelligence within their ranks.

That starts on the training ground, where Simeone and his gruff assistant Mono Burgos prepare the perfect tactics to suit their team's strengths.

Under Simeone's instruction, Atletico are defensively disciplined, unsurpassably organised and play with great game awareness, knowing when to press ferociously in numbers and when to sit deep, waiting for the right opportunity to pounce upon their hapless opponents and launch a rapid, pinpoint counter-attack.

As the eloquent Argentine boss explained in the build-up to his team's latest triumph, Barcelona's strength lies in controlling possession; Atletico's lies in controlling space.

Simeone's attention to detail and his ability to clearly communicate his plans ensures that his players have mastered the art of playing the game where they want to, while simultaneously forcing their opponents into areas where they feel uncomfortable.
nothing there about "tremendous spirit" "self belief" or "charisma" just hard work on the training pitch :banghead:

A female boss in specs? I'm pretty sure I've seen that movie before :rubchin:

Let me see, she' got the top 3 buttons of her blouse undone showing off her ample bosom, a short skirt, black high heels and legs up to her arse right? And she spends most of the day in her office with her knackers out sucking off the photocopier repair guy?

Cracking film 8)

Oh! gawd if only....

Cos I've seen that movie too, sadly my boss is more akin to Chewbakka only less feminine wearing specs like welding goggles and has halitosis.....

ps: oh yes and she really is a *word censored* - the kind of *word censored* with a plate of meat & veg between her legs - at least that's how she walks

Sorry, no, I don't believe for one minute that our mollycoddled mercenaries would even consider for one minute biting the hand that feeds them £50K - £80K a week.

At the outside, I might concede it is possible that Ozil may have muttered something as he strikes me as a winner who is not happy with virtual trophies. The fucking rest? My arse.

Maybe some DB10, but there are a few ambitious players within the squad who do not play purely for the money - I would suggest that BFG, tv5, sagna, cazorla, ozil, podolski and maybe even rosicky want to win medals at this stage. Yes it is true that the british and French contingent would be well happy to continue coining it in but others are more ambitious imo. Ozil would be used to playing for some of the best teams and managers in the world and I have no doubt that he will have been shell-shocked to see first hand how amateur our preparation really is  Maybe I am generalising a bit but by their nature german's are all about preparation and organisation (and you can see in BFG this season a man hungry to win) so I envisage frustration will have been simmering for some time now.

These days (thankfully) we don't have as many French, African and young impressionable players as we had in recent seasons so that bond/debt to wenker isn't as common these days I suspect and I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss these rumours nowadays
Augie I have to question how you've identified those players as 'ambitious' above the others at the club. Podolski couldn't hack it at Bayern so he ran back to his little boy home-town club. Sagna has been an excellent servant for this club but if you didn't have an affinity towards him I don't doubt you'd be saying how the fact he has happily stayed here throughout Wenger's failed experiment whilst other ambitious players have left as evidence of the contrary. Cazorla is the ultimate luxury player, Rosicky basically has done nothing for the best part of a decade. Cazorla, Vermaelen and BFG hardly have massively distinguished club careers despite being in their late 20s.

With the exception of Ozil (Madrid), very briefly Podolski (Bayern) and possibly Rosicky (Dortmund in early 2000s) Arsenal is by far the biggest club these players have been at.

I am sure that I have told this story on here before, but 3/4 years ago I got invited on a tour of the training ground, whilst the players were there.

Whilst watching the obligatory, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass keep ball session I asked our "guide" Shaun, if we would take a different approach to the forthcoming match v Stoke, due to physical nature of the game - his response was " We are Arsenal, we let the opposition worry about us" :banghead: which they obviously do, quite successfully.

I wouldn't mind betting a senior player like the BFG might have said we do not do sufficient work on the opposition, but doubt Wenker will listen as he hasn't worked 30 years in football yet has he ?

He says it every fucking year, usually just before the one player we'd like to keep fucks off

This will be the start of a string of predictable quotes that will range from the World Cup artificially inflating prices through to 'if something interesting comes up we will look to do it'

"There was no quality available on the market" - shortly after Chelsea, City and Liverpool all address key issues with their squads :banghead: .

I had been hoping for Klopp as replacement or if not Martinez...hadn't really considered Simeone until recently but the more I see and read about him the more I think he's the man for the job.

I doubt if it will happen but we really must get one of these hungry, ambitious managers before the decline at the club becomes too difficult to reverse.

Le cock said in todays press conference that the priority for next season is to keep all the players we have.
Standard Wonga comment we get each and every season as it draws to a close.
What it actually means is, he will extend the contracts of all the dross so Donkey Diaby for instance, will be getting a new contract shortly.
What a manager, what a legend..................in his own warped mind!
