THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Alan Smith turning against Wenger now on SSN...said the board are too much in awe of him and maybe should think someone else can do better.

Im increasingly sure that he will get hounded out IF we win the FA Cup, Wrighty Smith Robson Dixon have all been very "Meh" over him in recent weeks in the media. Many at the top of the club must also be feeding in that things are looking decidedly ugly if he carries on. They must know that if we had lost on Saturday the meltdown of 50,000 booing Gooners would have been too much to bear

Winning gives himself and the board the get out clause, retire in glory or let it get more gorey, he CANT be stupid enough to think he can carry on.

In fairness the press crap is to be expected, if they ask silly questions what do you expect from a man in football for 30 years :rubchin:

Oh dear, oh dear... it is getting quite ugly I must say. How stupid can he be that he really can't see what is going on? I really hope that he wins FA Cup and fucks off with the last pieces of dignity he still might have.

You are right. What I've seen is that there has been big difference how tv pundits (in Finland) and journalists speak about Arsenal now. First they really didn't believe any second that our good run would last until the end of the season. Now they are openly laughing and joking about Arsenal and especially about Wenker which haven't happen before.

This really hurts me the most as a Arsenal fan to be a laughing stock.

In fairness to cunty keane he was right in most of what he said. That article said he hated Vieira era Arsenal but it fails to mention that he RESPECTED that Arsenal team. He knew when he'd been in a game against Romford, Petit, DB10, Paddy, Nutty, Dicko, Big Tone etc. He obviously doesn't respect our current lot of soft pampered beeyatches.

He is right. We are The Arsenal. We should be aiming higher than scraping past Wigan on pennos. :|

Back in Wenger's pomp we were feared/respected in equal measure. Now? almost certainly none of the former and progressively less of the latter.

His Master's obsession with tika-taka was ill advised years ago and is even more daft now it's been found out at Barca - of all teams - ffs.

Just sod off with your depressing bit of reality.

Doubt we'll get 4th, but I can see the FA Cup being enough for him to put pen to paper.

It will also be enough for the fucking sheep to become even more insufferable with their incessant praise and worship of their lord and master.

Best believe we're well and truly consigned to at least 3 more years of agony. :banghead:

A finish outside of UCL for the first time has to be the final nailif he has any pride. Years of failure bookended by a very very lucky FA Cup Final win against a proper side and at the other by beating lesser lights is nothing to be proud of. I remember when Pool did not much apart from win a stack of League Cups (oh ok and maybe Champions league :-)) and I gave them no credit.
Just glad my newly adopted second team, Palace, is fighting hard. Actually enjoying watching them more at the moment which is very sad.

There was a moment during yesterday's Hull-Sheffield match that further exemplified why Wenger is an anachronism.

The hull keeper saved a shot (I believe off of a corner) and immediately, three sheffield players hurried to get near him so he couldn't quickly distribute the ball for a counterattack.

Could you imagine our players doing the same thing? Never.

Wenger can't motivate them to do so. Or, other the other hand, believes the tactic is against "the spirit of the game" despite the fact that the players committed no foul nor broke any rule.

If I were a Hull supporter, I wouldn't have any problem with it.

*SIGH*

Looks like the old chap is staying:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... ay-3414761

Although nothing is 100% concrete, word going round is he will definitely sign a 2 year extension, regardless of how our season pans out.

"2 MORE YEARS, 2 MORE YEARS, 2 MORE YEARS!!"
