The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I guess a reserve Goalkeeper may come in useful :rubchin:

Like Torres? or Carroll?

Don't think the price matters, Sturridge was 8m wasn't he and most would have him now.

I get the feeling its going to be all last minute again and the real needy areas wont get addressed and a few token signings will come in.

Of course it does: 50 million can get you strikers such as Aguero, Suarez, Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Falcao, etc. Obviously none of them are likely available, but they're all in that price bracket.

Granted, you can get cheaper strikers who develop into quality players, but if you want the top pedigree now, without having to wait for their talent to blossom, you pay a premium.

For those asking about Serge Aurier/RMC information, his agent has claimed that they are in talks with "another English side." 1/2 #AFC #LFC

In fact I hear that Jan Venegoor of Hesselink is on his way, and you don't get many bigger names than that
Petrus Ferdinandus Johannes van Hooijdonk waqs quite sizable :D
Your originality knows no bounds, that JvoH joke is older than your pretensions of organising a non existent BBq

that's agent speak for get a move on or else. The victims absolutely do not need a RB, would be a pointless buy and they aren't exactly loaded anymore.

We all know that this regime will not spend the necessary to get us up to the required level, but am surprised that there hasn't been a bigger outcry from the fans on here to sign reus  The guy supposedly has a 35m buyout clause and is surely pound for pound a better option than 19m for bony ?

He's loyal to Dortmund - just like Klopp and Gundogan; I'm sure all three will eventually leave but not this summer.

If there were any inkling that he might be willing to leave this summer every major club in Europe would be swarming for his signature.

People used to say that about Gotze as he'd been at the club from the age of 8. Maybe Reus genuinely wouldn't be open to a move but waiting for a player to announce his attention to leave is very Arsenal-like and is one of the reasons we have disappointed in the transfer market.

Not that I'm suggesting for a minute he would be realistic even if we were willing to part with the cash - leaving Dortmund for Bayern or Madrid is one thing but for Arsenal is another, and as you say it would hardly be a free run at the player.

and you think players of that ilk will come here???? Maybe if we won the league last year and not the Cup.

Ozil was being forced out, it was a wise move for him but that type of striker is never coming here because the club wont pay the wages that go with the fee.
