THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

John Cross really is a ringpiece of the highest order. How many years have he and his colleagues written about Wenger's realisation that he needs to spend big......err, after every end of season collapse we've ever had. This must have been tripped out every year since 2008.

If he doesn't sign a big name player prior to the start of the World Cup this will be another window where we're dashing around trying to loan a Mourinho cast-off or sign Kalou on the cheap at the eleventh hour on 31 Aug

van Gaal isn't the answer - difficult man to get on with and alienates everybody.

John Cross must have his Cup Final ticket and corporate goodie bag by now, so why does he bother filing that dross? Only big money Wenger spends is on himself. Even then, the man can't manage a coat with a workable zip.

It will be different this year SteveO. We would have been right up there if it wasn't for injuries and sheer bad luck. We are one or two players away from being title winners and Wenger will go out and buy the quality we need. He proved with Ozil he's not afraid to spend money and even with a disappointing finish and all the bad luck in the world we will still manage to qualify for the CL.

we all know what is going to happen

beat Norwich to secure the top 4 trophy
Wenger signs new deal with huge fanfare from club about how he has got us to the Cup final
mass hysteria from AKBs in the week leading up to the cup final
Wenger is tactically humiliated by Bruce at Wembley and Hull win 1-0

enter Gazidis with his spin machine about £100M available to Wenger so that we can compete with the best in Europe
everyone renews season tickets expecting major signings
Wenger goes to Brazil to commentate on World Cup

August - Wenger is too busy to sign anyone because of the Community Shield, CL qualifiers (which are blamed for the bad start to the league season)
deadline day- another panic buy pleases the AKBs. Wenger says that the player can be converted into a striker probably

2014/15 season - same as 2013/14 although Chelsea manage a 8-0 win over Arsenal. Mourinho expresses astonishment that the failure is still in charge at Arsenal

As if whether or not we "meet his targets" has nothing to do with him...

He will never resign and he will never get sacked. Arsenal is like a toy to him. Once he gets tired of playing then he will leave and we never know when

Just about on the money

I would add to that the fact that Fabianski, Vermaelen and Sagna will be replaced by younger, cheaper replacements with the 100k per week less on wages being banked by the club

Also regardless of whether Van Gaal or Steve Kean get the Man United manager's job we'll still limp out of Old Trafford having barely registered an attempt on goal

quite a few reports tonight that Arsenal have made enquiries for Van Gaal after the WC.

his #2 at Bayern and Barca is our new Youth Director - Andries Jonkers.

Nonsense. Wenger will resign, apologising for the lack of silverware in recent seasons and stating that '4th place just isn't good enough.'

We will appoint Nigel Pearson and revert to 4-4-2. World domination begins

I would be happy with Van Gaal, despite being a nutty fucker he knows what he's doing and probably just what we need to whip the spineless bunch we have into title winners.

Prefer a younger more pragmatic manager, but anyone who has any basic understanding of tactics is more than welcome.
