Growing up in the 80s with scum like reptile face Ardiles and ''hard man'' Graham Roberts in their side it was impossible not to loathe Spurs with a passion ... but I have never felt the need to make them into too much of a small time outfit.

Who wants a rival club that is too small? It doesnt really work. Thats perhaps part of the reason why Barcelona v Real Madrid is a bigger game to them than when they play their respective city rivals Espanol or Atletico (although under Simeone maybe thats changed a bit)

Chelsea have Fulham as local rivals. Thats shit! You cant hate Fulham!

The best rivalries in football are when both clubs are big clubs or similar sized clubs. All over the world. Like in Beunos Aires (River Plate v Boca J) and Istanbul (Galatasaray v Fenerbache) plus the obvious ones in Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Rome, Milan, Lisbon. For the north London one to be seen as serious as those we need that lot to be reasonably big at least.

Arsenal are and always will be a bigger and superior club to them and that's all that matters to me. It doesnt mean I cant see them as a big club too though.
