So when he signs another crocked Ligue 2 donkey and no world class players, what will your excuse be then?

No excuse if he signs mere potential from France.

But he paid #42m for Ozil.
It's not unreasonable to assume he could follow that up with similar established world class players.

Just wondering if there is anything Wenger can do this summer to turn around many of the haters.

Supposing we sign a world class defensive midfielder, striker, back up keeper and full back.
All established players for vast sums.
Then add those to the likes to BFG, Koisency, Ramsey, Walcott, Gibbs, Carzola, Ozil, Wiltshire, Szczesny, the Ox and Sagna (if he stays).
I'd w-ank myself silly... but we all know this is never going to happen. As mentioned, we'll sign some has-been, an injured crock or someone with 'potential' from Ligue Deux :barscarf:

i don't care if he has got £200 million to spend this summer
i wouldnt care if he even spent that £200 million
we still wouldnt win the league under him - he has no idea how to react in big games, no idea when to make substitutes, no idea how to rotate players so that they dont suffer injuries (dont you even begin to wonder why Arsenal suffer more injuries than any other team? Every season!). He has had a decade of failure in trying to build another title winning team and we still can't get any higher than 4th! why do you really think an old man of 64 who has specialised in failure for the past decade will suddenly change now????

rodders999 wrote:This is why my head is exploding at the moment. I want Arsenal to win every game, hardly the biggest revelation ever made on here I would imagine. I mean that's the whole point of this being a supporter thing right? However, I also want Wenger OUT as badly as I have ever wanted anything in this life. And right now these two things are no longer compatible.

We have 4 games to play this season and as of today he has not signed a contract. That's as close as we've ever been to be rid of him, I can almost taste freedom. Securing the double of the real and virtual trophies will see him survive, a complete balls up, I believe, will see him go.

So basically the two things I want the most are in complete conflict with each other and my head is F'n melted from it :banghead:
Nice post mate. That's one of the best explanations I've read about the current situation.

And it is so excruciatingly intolerable because this has been the case for a few years now - not just this season. It's gone beyond what many can take.

I cannot think rationally about the team anymore. My loathing of Wenger consumes everything. Feeling this way is maybe my fault but then do we really get to choose how to feel? If I could choose what to feel then I would choose to relish getting out of bed on a Monday morning to go back to work!

Anyway one of the main problems for me is any good result comes at a price these days and I find myself worrying about the consequences of what is supposed to be a good thing. If winning the FA Cup saves Wenger it tarnishes it for me. If I knew he was leaving regardless of what happens, I would be able to get into the cup final spirit 100%.

8-2, 5-1, 6-3, 6-0.

Can't change my opinion, I want him gone, now. The things I want in a manager he can no longer deliver.

A man to whom a record defeat and stubbing one's toe are one and the same thing, his tragicomic record in Europe, our striking options consisting of Giroud, Bendtner & Sanogo, passing sideways into oblivion and all the while being charged through the nose for it? No ta.

The thing is mate, this is the sort of thing we keep hearing.

I can well imagine someone who is saying this kind of thing could easily see Wenger do nothing this summer, then see him repeat the same mistakes next season ... but then come out with the same ''I'm happy for him to stay one more year on the condition he spends'' thing once again.

Not saying you personally but people who say that sort of thing often say it every year. Wenger has had long enough! He has had more time than he deserved. More patience than he deserved. And he let us down. No more chances!

I think we are past that point that nothing can justify all these short comings over the years. You are talking about world class players, well has he bought anyone apart from Özil? Even if he signs 2-3 world class players it doesn't take away his tactical inability (results against other top teams this year).

This is a question of belief now which I don't personally have anymore to Wenger. You're believing what you like and I'm believing what I like, there is no really point to argue who is right and who is wrong. I'm ready to hold my hands up and say I was wrong if he really signs those players we really need and wins Premier league or Champions league. But I just don't believe that anymore. Wenger out.

This exactly. Even if he did spend the money on genuine quality, he's still clueless when it comes to actually setting up the squad for the important games.

Spot on with everything!

Even if we'd got Suarez I think we'd have finished 3rd or 4th because that is the expectation. Wenger doesn't have to desire for anything higher. He might not admit it (although he did say he would sign up for 2nd place for the next 20 years :banghead: ) but actions speak louder than words. And his lack of action speaks volumes.

OX
Walcott (twice!)
Podolski
Ozil
Ramsey
Wilshere

All of the above have missed a significant part of this season - even the likes of Arteta, Gibbs have missed reasonable amounts.

That he massively held us back and i dont see how anybody can question that - no Manager could win the league without 6 of his best players out for most of it. The injury situation has to be looked at, totally agree - but you cant legislate for Walcotts Knee going, Wilshere getting smashed by Aggers foot etc.

I dont deny that Wenger has made mistakes this season, but 4th and the FA Cup? Most people on here would have bitten your hand off in August and without those injuries it could have been a lot better. Wea re not that far away.

The worry for me is 1 win in 5 years against the top sides, but i cant remember the last time we went into a big game with all our players available, its not the sole reason for losing / getting smashed - but it doesnt help.

yes we are not that far away but we have been in this same situation now for a decade.
do we ever learn from being not far away? NO!! how many more years are you prepared to be not far away? because the longer we keep hold of Wenger you will be saying exactly the same thing every single season.

and then you mention the 1 win against the top sides and there is your answer as to why we will never get any closer.
and then you mention we are never able to field our top side and there is another reason as to why we will never get any closer

You'd have a good point if this was the only season when we've been hit badly by injuries, but it's not, it happens every season.
