football manager 2009 help

just got a copy of the game from a guy at uni, never played before and am really shit seem to lose or draw all the time, know a few of you have the game so any tips?

give us some info first, what team are you and what players do you have and how much cash do you have to spend.
...If you are arsenal, just buy a DM (I bought yaya toure) and some backups for other positions then you can easily do the quad (i have done lol).
We are so over-rated on Football Manager it is awesome, or atleast our players perform like they are suppost to

I need help, mine closes and comes up with
not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1 of speed.xml
does any1 else know wtf this means and how to fix it. I miss it PPLEEAAAAASE!!!!!
