If your mate has been to prison then he will not get into the USA.
If it is a non prison offence he should be fine.
Sounds like that will be a great trip Bren, one of the most interesting big fights in ages.

Mate of mine has just been through all this. He got in a fight years ago when he was a Royal marine and ended up with a charge of affray in court.
He has booked a holiday with his family to go to Disney etc and had to go to American embasy and have interview and beg. The woman at Embasy said he had not a very good chance of getting visa but will find out mid May (he travels May12th). This guy went to war standing next to the yanks and they dont want him in ! They said cos it went to crown court it was bad.
Got a call last week to say he could go

but it was a lot of hard work

friend of mine had two convictions of drink driving, wantedc to go to disneyland with family, was told by us embassy that he had to go for interview with them then see their doctor alll for the tidy sum of £300, and then they would decide ????. its just a money making scam. point is he didnt bother and had no problems getting into usa, if im not mistaken the usa border DO NOT have access to criminal charges against brits at point of entry

I don't see the problem in banning criminals tbh. If you commit the crime be prepared for the time.

These days you have to do the visa waiver form on line in advance.
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html ... 21B0BDB705
The only question vaguely relevant is
Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude or a violation related to a controlled substance; or have been arrested or convicted for two or more offenses for which the aggregate sentence to confinement was five years or more; or have been a controlled substance trafficker; or are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities?
if your mate applies for this and gets it, he probably won't have any probs getting in. I suppose its whether he wants to take the risk.

they trrat you like a criminal at border control anyway! Especially in florida, the rude fat *word censored*!
They would not let me and my girlfriend go through together because we had a differnt sur-name, then i got asked about 15 questions about a scar i got on my forehead DUE TO A CAR CRASH! Then they scan your eyes!!!! and then you get some dirty looks, and then they tell you to go in, but they might aswell be saying fuck off!!! Im sure other have had better experiances with US Customs, but i had a fucking nightmare!
On the way home after 3 weeks, (San Francisco airport) the woman at check in told us to unlock our suitcases, me being unaware that it was law over there, asked why? not in an agressive way, not thretening and definatley not violent! Becasue i asked why do we have to take our locks off, she stamped our boarding cards with some red stamp with the letter SSSS. They searched us like we were carrying 100kilos of coloumbian cocaine! But i guess we can call ourselfs lucky they didnt get the rubber gloves out!
Fuckin Yanks!!!!!
from all the places i went to in America, id only go back to Vegas! CIVILISATION!

Australia seems to take anyone other countries reject.
Suppose it makes the government look good and the average Australian "incredibly tolerant"...

Actually, what I meant was
"all aussies are convicts"
Apparently Australia is one of the hardest places to get in to. It's almost impossible if you're in bad health, over 40.... or black
