Body: - Arsenal are in advanced talks with Caen for striker Yoan Gouffran.
Gouffran has been a long-term target for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and is on the verge of signing a long-term deal - between three and four years - with the Premiership giants.

Arsenal are willing to send Gouffran back to Caen on-loan for the coming season.

- Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen on Real Madrid wing dazzler Robinho.

Robinho has enjoyed a superb Copa America and Marca says Wenger has told Real he would only consider selling Reyes for 6million should they include the Brazil international winger in their offer.

- Arsene Wenger will have a release clause inserted in his new £14million Arsenal contract, according to newspaper reports.

The News of the World claims the Gunners have offered the Frenchman a multi-million pound four-year deal to replace his current contract which expires at the end of next season.

Wenger has stalled on signing the proposed £3.5million-a-year deal and it is thought his refusal to pen an extension is having an unsettling effect on the playing squad at the Emirates Stadium.

A 'top Arsenal source' told the News of the World: "Arsene is the life and soul of this club. He has been offered a new deal but will be allowed to leave for nothing at the end of every season if he chooses."

- Cesc Fabregas wants to become Arsenal captain.

Gilberto Silva had been tipped to take the captain's armband from Thierry Henry, but Fabregas said: "I have had a lot of experience in the Premiership and have been made captain at a very young age. I believe that as I gain even more experience and my English becomes better, I will not have any problem."

- Arsenal striker Theo Walcott isn't making any big predictions for the coming season.

"The shoulder is absolutely fine," said Walcott. "I have about 85 per cent of full movement at the moment but I have started training as normal.

"Myself and Robin van Persie started two weeks early."

The former Southampton youngster has set himself a goal target of ten next season as he looks to establish himself as a regular in Arsene Wenger's plans.

"I want to get 10 goals next season and I would like to make 20 or 25 starts," added Walcott.

"Basically, I want to improve every year. I know I'm quite a high-profile player, but I'm just 18, so all I want to do is work hard and try to get more starts for the first team."

- Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Auxerre defender Bakari Sagna this week.

The Sunday Mirror says Sagna - who broke into the French senior squad last season - will cost Arsenal £7.5million and bring the spending of manager Arsene Wenger in the last seven days to £15.5m following the arrival of Brazilian-born Croatian striker Eduardo from Dinamo Zagreb.

Sagna has been thoroughly checked by Arsenal's French scout Gilles Grimandi, who recommended Sagna highly to Wenger. He will sign a five-year contract and his wages will more then double to about £25,000 a week.
