Silverspoons Yesterday

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Silverspoons Yesterday

Post by Percy Dalton »

What a fucking con that was!

How can something organised by an Arsenal supporters group for Arsenal supporters be such a rip off?

You pay a fiver to get in to then pay four quid for piss weak Carling. Where is the value in that for any Arsenal supporter?

I appreciate people going to lengths to try and organise something for others to enjoy but why do it if it means your fellow Gooners have to pay well over the top?

People on here are moaning about the cost of food/beer inside Wembley but a pint was actually cheaper in the ground than it was inside that shithole.

you obviously know fuck all mate. If you'd bought your ticket earlier it was £3. Every other club that has used it has been charged £10 per head.

No one forced you to pay it, you didn't have to go in.The DJs worked for nothing, hardly had a beer and had to try and carry on after the game when they were just as pissed off as everyone else.

You try it next time.

p,s it wasn't an oficial Arsenal Supportes Group, just a few lads tyring to sort something for everyone.

Nice comments Reg!

You tell me what part of my comments are untrue?

We did buy our tickets in advance and was charged a fiver instead of the advertised three quid.

I have no problem with that as obviously anything organised has associated costs which I was obviously happy to pay for. Like you say I wasn't forced to and freely did.

What I wasn't expecting was to pay four quid for a pint of piss weak beer. How can that be justified? How can you justify three pints for a tenner but a single pint costs £4? There was a group of four of us and so we had to pay £14 for four pints of Carling. Where is the value in that? A pint in most pubs near The Grove is £3

Instead of an aggressive retort which explains nothing, why not try and respond with some facts?

As you say, I know nothing and you appear to be well in the know so you should be able to justify the costs with ease?

Like I said, I appreciate people organising something but if it increases the cost of what is already an expensive day then surely something has been lost.?

By the way, this isn't a personal dig at any one person.

The aggresive retort is a reponse to 'what a fucking con' and aggresive way to start your thread. They wasn't a money making event in fact they raised £1600 for charity.

Where did you pay £5 in advance? It was only meant to be £5 on the day.

As I said this wasn't an Arsenal Supporters Group 'do'. Just a few lads that wanted to get as many Arsenal together and as close to teh stadium as possible. This they did. It's no mean feat trying to shift 2000 tickets via email, text and forums.

They managed to negotiate an extremely discounted price for Arsenal fans. Everton are using it today and are being charged £10, as were every other club that have used it, as the costs are that high.

They had no influence over the prices of drinks, that's down to the owners of the venue. A bottle of Stella was £3.

When we get to wembley again and if it's organised again, you know not to attend. Everyone I spoke to yesterday were happy, despite the result

I had a fantastic time despite the result. Many thanks to the lads who worked hard to pull it off. DJ sets were great.

Good to see you again Reg

Well done to the lads who got it on, great afternoon in a boozer full of proper old skool Arsenal. The djs were great, bit noisy for an old fucker like me tho, stood outside in the sun most of the time  8) I saw a couple of people I hav'nt seen for donkeys years and generally had a good time. Nice long rendition of B' Jeezus said paddy  . Why drink the weak piss lager when you could have bought Stella? Oh well you can't please everyone I spose and anyone who did'nt like it knows not to go again. If we get back to Wembley and it's organised again I'll definitely be up for it so thanks again to the geezers who organized it, nice one.

I went there before the match, prices were a piss take, someone made a shit load of mney out of us gooners yesterday and to say that we didn't get as ripped as the Everton fans doesn't make it any less a piss take.

That said, I did have a great time and for those that made the effort to put this together I say thank thanks 8)

you think its expensive there. Over here in ireland in my local 4 pints of lager would cost 17.20euros which is approx about £16 sterling and i live in a small town .The same 4 pints in dublin would cost about 20 euros if not more. Now thats expensive.

Well I think Paul Gascoigne might have turned to meths but as a matter of choice, not financial reasons

Ouch.

Schooner of beer at my uni's pub is $3.70 (AUD) which is 1.80 GBP...schooners are smaller though but I'd guess thats still a lot cheaper.

I don't drink in pubs though, usually at home/people's houses. Much cheaper to buy a case of beer (24) for less than $40 (AUD) (19.50 GBP). :barscarf:
