Who is your Prem manager of the Year ?

Post by SteveO 35 »

Looking beyond the trophies this year (as we kind of have to these days), who do you think has been the manager of the season so far. Personally I think Hodgson has performed a miracle transforming Fulham from relegation candidates to 7th place in a year. Pulis has done a cracking job at Stoke, Zola for the Spammers....but for me Moyes is pound for pound the best. How he's got Everton to 5th on their resources and in a season where they have had virtually all their strikers crocked - outstanding achievement (and lets hope they beat the Chavs)

Who do you chose ?

A choice between Moyes and Hodgson for me. Hodgson has done a fantastic job on limited resources to turn around a team that was 15 minutes away from relegation last season to one that is virtually in Europe next. Likewise,Moyes has done a similar job. Also, his Everton side has 3 or 4 players that would fit in nicely in our team. Lescott and Jagielka have been arguably the second best defensive pairing in the premiership behind Vidic and Ferdinand. Cahill has that brilliant knack of scoring goals from set-pieces,something we have been sadly lacking in this season and Arteta would fit in perfectly with our style of football.
My vote goes to Moyes

A choice for me between Hodgson and Pullis.

I will go for Pullis simply because it is a tremendous struggle to keep a side in the Premier League and they have done it comfortably. Not everyone will like the style in which they have done it but they played to their strengths .

Hodgson is finally be rightfully acknowledged as a tremendous manager and I would not have a problem with him joining Arsenal if Wenger was to leave in the near future.

I think Moyes, they havn't really had a striker all season due to bad luck with injuries and hes turned it around brilliantly.

It's tough to look past 11 titles but Fergie is a *word censored* so fuck him.

Wenger; in some ways he should be up there because sometimes I find it amazing he's got us to fourth place with the likes of Eboue, Song, Silvestre and Adebayor playing more often than not.

Everybody goes on about Moyes' limited resources but Feillani and Yakubu weren't exactly budget buys. However the way he's made Championship players into good solid Prem players deserves to be recognised.

Pulis has done very, very well but I actually credit the Stoke fans just as much for their success this season, The Brittania has easily been the nosiest stadium I've been to in England this season and their home form has definitely kept them.

Zola at West Ham has done well after a slow start. I voted for Hodgson though. He saved Fulham on the last day last season and he has taken them to their best ever Prem finish on the back of good organisation and great home form.

Moyes for me, limited funds and everton have still achieved 5th place and a f.a. cup final.
He has had very bad luck with injuries in attack but he has never made excuses in his interviews and he has always found a way around the situation.
Lets hope they win the cup final!!!
Hodgson a close second as he took a team from the brink of relegation to europe without throwing stupid amounts of cash at the team - take note spuds and city hahaha

Think its Moyes for me.

Surprised no one's suggested Phil Brown actually. :x

(There were no emoticons violent enough for me to use, so those two will have to suffice...)

A close call between moyes and hodgson but for me the everton boss wins it 8)

Moyes has had shocking injuries in a small swuad and had no fcuker to play as striker for a long time but still did very well in the process. As has been said alreeady he never made excuses with the injuries which I tip my hat to him cos for the last few seasons it seems to be the main excuse we Gooners seem to fall back on most

Pulis. Out of the 3 clubs that came up last season, I would have tipped Stoke to go down out of the lot of them.

He has a solid side who are incredibly tough to beat at home, and he shades it for me from Hodgson.

Hodgson for me, just ahead of Moyes. Simply for the fact that a lot of what Moyes & Everton have achieved this season has been the result of groundwork laid over the previous few years.

That’s not to take anything away from the job Moyes has done & is doing, but the award is for manager of the year. And Hodgson’s work has all been done in just that, the past year.

How he’s turned them round from relegation certainties last season to top 7 (only 6 points behind Villa!) on no budget, having lost their ‘star’ player (Bullard) halfway through the season, and all while playing good football is pretty incredible.

And unlike other managers of similar sized clubs he’s managed to keep his players switched on even after reaching the 40 point mark. How many times did we see Charlton basically go on an early summer holiday as soon as they were safe from relegation? Or to a lesser extent Wigan this season.

Be interesting to see if Fulham can do it again next year. I have my doubts but Hodgson all the way for me, especially if he keeps the Totts out of Europe!

Hodgson for me too, no question - highly experienced manager whose teams are well balanced and as Percy said we could do a lot worse than him as a replacement for AW should that day ever arrive 8)

Should there not be an option in there for Phil Brown as well :-P as it's lookin as tho Hull are gonna beat the drop :!:

Roy for me. If they make Europe that will be an incredible achievement.

Pulis and Moyes both deserve a lot of credit too.

I was  to see Wenger has actually got one vote.

Mowbray probably derserves a mention too for refusing to compromise his principles of attractive football even tho they've been headed for relegation all of this year!
