Ridiculous punishment. Should be reserved as standard term for murderers, rapists and kiddyfiddlers.

He fucked off the rich and the government.

I once met a guy who was banged up because he upset the government. He had a small building firm which employed friends and family. He got into financial problems. Instead of pulling the plug on the business, and walking away from the debt, he tried to trade himself out of trouble.

Silly thing to do.

You can't be imprisoned for debt.

So they had him for "fraudulent trading".

The guy never hurt a soul. And had no intent to break any laws.

Unlike muggers and thieves. Who get away with a slap on the wrist.
