As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Now that the window has closed where will we feel the failure to add to the squad most?
Whilst I think you cold make a good case for all of them, I'm going for the failure to sign a defensive midfielder. The reason is, Song if he continues to develop in this role will become an integral part of the team.
The African Nations Cup starts on the 20th of January and runs until the 10th February, assuming that Song will link up with his squad at least a week before the tournament starts, and most likely be unavailable for a week after it finishes, then these are the games he will miss.

SCARY STUFF
The Portsmouth goal was the worst one, Im right in line with that penalty box so watched him hesitate and anticipate the cock up then moan to the ref for a foul when clearly it wasn't one, go and claim the fuckin ball.
To me it happened in slow motion and I'm scared everytime the ball goes near his area.

We have conceeded four goals in the league so far and you can directly blame Blondie for three of them.
This is not a temporary dip in form either, it is about a permanent lack of class.
Whilst I agree that he isn't all that. I think that's a bit harsh.
There's no way you could blame him for Diaby's goal and the ones against Pompey and Everton were the defenses fault, not his.

Sadly, you can, partially, blame him for that goal.
Where was Diaby standing? 6 yard line? Why didn't he come and claim it. A half decent GK would have!

how was it the defences fault for the pompey goal, he was slow and got out jumped while then expecting a free out the guy is a liability as last line of defence

Don't agree Spudmaster, he is incharge of his box, no one else, the Portsmouth goal was there for him to get and there was no one near Diaby so any decent keeper would have seen the cross and gone to meet it, MINE!!!!!!!
He seems to shy for me, how can we have a shy goalkeeper????
I guess that for that one, and the Diaby own goal, you need to know what the system is. What is the method laid down by AW? Does he instruct for him to come always or let the defence deal with things. The truth is that we don't know his thinking and can't make a fair assessment without it.
Almunia is our weakest regular Goalkeeper since before Bob Wilson. Nobody is doubting that! I just don't think he is as bad as some will have you believe. I'd like to see how many more Seamen would have conceded behind this defence instead of the brick wall he had in front of him.
It's simple logic really. If a goalkeeper becomes exposed once in a game he has a 50% chance of making a fuck up. If he gets exposed as often as Almunia does then his chances increase regardless of how good he is.
I would like to see a better player in that position than Almunia, but I'm a realist. I know there are not that many out there and those that are are either not available or way out of our price range.
