Sky on Xbox

I know that you can now get Sky on Xbox - providing that you subscribe or pay for multi room on your existing subscription. But do they have to be used in the same house....? Unofficially I mean!

Hypothetically speaking, if you have a mate just a few doors down the road who has Sky then can you pay for multi room and use his subscription on your xbox...?

I would have thought so.

An X-box is pretty similar to a PC in it's most basic form right? I manage to use the sky player from my work PC.

And that's about 5 or 6 miles from my house.

Things good. Not been to that many games this season - but did go to up to Man City for the league game (and appeared in the picture in the Sun!) and will be at Anfield next week. Stopped coming on here for a while when I got fed up with all the pre-season whingeing....then I look on here and see mid-season whingeing  ....!

I understand that the old dodgybox that just about everyone was using in Ireland to watch cable for free has now been totally outlawed....took them time to catch up. Did that effect you?

Hello MK!

This won't work with Sky!

You will find on the small print for a multi-room contract that each box has to be connected to a working telephone line with the same telephone number and registered at the same address.

What Sky do is everyday they "ping" your box (don't get excited DB10) to see if it is connected to the line. If they don't get a ping back on two occasions they start charging you for two seperate full packages rather than the extra 10 quid for multiroom. They will of course do this without telling you and you will only find out about this the hard way when the statement arrives.

Trust me I know!

In my last house we had multiroom with two boxes connected to two phone outlets on the same number. The kids broke the phone connection in the room they used to watch TV. As we didnt use it for a phone or use the interactive Sky services in that room I forgot ( ) to repair it.

Only when the bill came through the next month did I find out I had to pay double and no Sky would accept my explanation.

Their reasoning is that they have had so many cases of people living next door to each other sharing a cheap multiroom package conning them that they just won't accept it any other way and will not accept excuses. Argue with them and they tell you its in the contract small print that you should of read. Which of course it is in insect size text.

So in summary............erm, no it won't work!

Foreign satellite is the way forward, that way you never miss a game even if you can't make it to the actual match.

Nah - I have "honest" Sky+ so never delved into the dodgybox! Few of my mates are still crying about having to pay for cable now. :-P

Now what was this getting your box "pinged" that Percy mentioned??!! :proudtosay:

Which foreign channels do you subscribe to? Been considering getting the foreign channels for a while, but there are millions of different subscriptions to choose from

The D-box's aren't. They're now updating them twice daily, instead of once in a blue moon.. :?
