NASRI OUT FOR 6 MONTHS!
It was confirmed this evening that Nasri's injury was more serious than first anticipated. Wenger was quoted as saying:
"At first we didn't think it was too serious when he first came off the park. The knock on the head had triggered some sort of flashback, where he said he could remember shooting at goal and scoring".
Asked for more details on the injury Wenger replied: "We gave him two valium and put him back on, hoping the flashbacks would go - but now it is more serious, and they are now permanent. The brainwashing... er I mean training we carried out over the last 18 months had successfully removed the instinct to shoot at goal, and it looks like he will need intensive therapy to restore this state".
Wenger said: "It is important for the team that we isolate the player immediately, as this can be contagious - first one player recovers the desire to shoot from distance, then another, and pretty soon we will be knocking goals in from all over the danger zone, without completing the required number of passes. This could undo years of conditioning so we must protect the team".
"Of course the player is distraught - it's not easy to cope with the knowledge that he was once a prolific goal scorer, but with the right drugs, er... treatment, we should be able to restore the status quo" added Wenger.
Arsene Wenger denied rumours that Abou Diaby may also be concussed after he scored from a header from a good cross:
" It was just an accident, nobody expected the cross from Rosicky to be so good, and Diaby was just in the wrong place at the wrong time - he is OK for the next match. However Rosicky may need some tuning up"
