Gus didn't run off crying because he wasn't chosen to be a mod. He never wanted to be a mod at all as he neither had the time or the inclination to do the role.
He complained, in his usual diplomatic style, about who was being made a mod as he didn't think it was in keeping with the forum style and character.
No idea where Gus is now but I am sure he still has a look at the forum occasionally.
