Do Arsenal have a big following in Brazil?

yeah mate, but not true supporters. arsenal play the brazilian way - lots of quick passing, beautiful football, so that makes a lot of admirers who pretend to love the club forever. however, the lack of trophies is making a few of them start supporting other clubs which is good, because only the pure gooners in the heart remain. the fact that the brazilian league is a big joke also helps.

we're starting the first arsenal supporters club here, and i'm meeting a lot of true gooners that support the club for over a decade, so you could say that at least there are a nice small bunch over here. visit our website www.arsenalbrasil.com.br and run it through the google translator and you'll see what i'm talking about.

we even have a few songs in portuguese now mainly about the favourite players here - fabregas, arshavin and van persie.

That would be some achievement givin the sheer size of Brazil. Well done!

Whenever I watch the Brazilian League though it seem to be of quite a high standard - many of Brazil's World Cup winners have played in the League....I think it's underrated.

all of brazil's great players start here, but they never stay here for too long, as the euro is worth a lot more than the real, and living in spain or italy is usually more attractive. however, you are right, there are still a nice bunch of excellent players full of technique and flair here.

the problem is that politics are too much involved, so there are a lot of refereeing scandals and corruption in the league. in a few games that is very easy to spot. in the last 5 seasons, there were 3 scandals that decided the winners, and everyone could see it. it is really a big shame.

i know it happens everywhere, but here it is too much. the clubs here owe as much money to the country as portsmouth does, but no politician is crazy enough to allow those clubs to go bust, as it would destroy their popularity. club directors here ride ferraris and porsches with money from player deals and stuff like that, it is really a shame...
