Being an American, you may not know that Irish porters like Guiness and Murphys were actually copied from English porter. Which was born in London at Spittalfield market. The brew took it's name from the porters who worked at the market.
Some of the Irish lads here don't like being reminded of this fact.

everyone knows bud, miller, and coors are shite.
there are quite a few really good american micro brews out there though. north coast, left hand, and rogue all have good stuff worth trying out. if you do some digging you can find many more american brews worth trying
as for sam adams...just about everything from them is at least decent but none of their stuff is the best in its style. sam adams is very overrated if you ask me
although america does have some pretty good beer to offer i still prefer stuff from the uk for the most part as you could see from my list. anyone want to recomend a good porter, stout, or brown?

i've been brewing my own ale for a while now, and i love the perfect belgian trappist ales and all that. i fucking love a quality beer, with loads of taste, completely balanced and all that. i also agree that guinness is technically shit.
but there is nothing better in this world (other than sex) than enjoy a good number of pints of guinness while watching a football match. it gets down your throat like you've been asking for it your whole life.
so, i fucking love guinness
