I have one of those combi VHS/DVD players, the problem is when I switcH to DVD, even if I'm not actually playing a DVD then the picture goes all red, yet it's ok on video mode. :?
I suppose it's fucked, or has anyone had anything similar, and been able to sort it out.
I have already tried switching it on and off several times, ****.

Easy easy solution.

Unplug it, and lift it up so you can see the back where the leads all go in. The analogue video out is where the problem will be. Locate it then hurl the piece of junk against the wall as hard as you can.

stamp on it to make sure that it gets a thorough servicing. When in bits locate the video out it may actually be scart and toss it. That will remove the offending part.

leave remaining pieces for the cleaner / other half / dog to pick up.

go out a buy a proper dvd player.

Yes, as Flash said above, or use another scart cable (on an item that does work) they can fuck up also.

Fucking hell Sid, are you a technophobe or what?

You sound worse than my Mrs, although she seems to have a bit of trouble a few days a month with the colour red too. A brand new plug usually fixes that though.
