Very pleasant, Sami.

Reminded me a bit of Sting.

Not very moving, though.

I really like the traditional stuff, when everyone gets up dancing.

Excuse my bad spelling, but that old song that goes Nava, nagilahava, nagila hava... I bloody love that one. And I'm not even Jewish.

What an obscure thread!

Anyway, this is one of my Israeli favourites, sort of Jill Scott type vibe.

And this one, amongst many great tunes by Ofra Hazar, sampled by Coldcut for an Eric B and Rakim remix.

I think the most poignant female vocal of all time was Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit".

But it takes the thread into very heavy territory.

Sade is great though.

Sorry, ****'y. As usual, a thread wanders off the point.

Billy Holliday was probably a baptist Christian. Sade doesn't look very Jewish. :)

Neither was/is Jewish or Israeli.

As for Sade's looks, Goapele sings well and is Jewish, but not Israeli. Link below

There is a rap version of it too, by a Jewish MC named Drake.
