This may annoy a few of you but I feel the CHAMPIONS League should be for champions and despite countries like Spain, Italy, England, Holland and Germany getting byes to the Group Stages for their runners up and even third or fourth placed teams, I feel some of the smaller countries should get byes to the group stages.

This would leave the runners up from each coumtry, third place from other countries and even four in our case to play play offs to get in to the group stages.

FOR EXAMPLE:-

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS

ENGLAND
1 Arsenal (title winners)* I know its not likely but it's nice to dream!
2 Man Utd
3 Chelski
4 Man Citeh

SPAIN
1. Real Madrid
2. Barcelona
3. Valencia
4. Athletico Madrid

Citeh and Athletico go in the 4th place play offs, Chelski and Valencia in 3rd and United and Barca for 2nd place play offs. Winners progress to another qualifying round until there are 32 competing teams in the group stages.

For the lower ranked nations, eg Malta, Liechtenstein etc they play each other in a two legged tie, winners go into the Group Stages as they are CHAMPIONS.

Ifweel teams are missing out here as a result of other teams from higher powered countries take their places in the Champions League when they should rightfully have a place in the CHAMPIONS League!

Still got a problem with me cos I said you talked the most bollocks on here DB10?

The way things are going we're struggling to hold on to the place in the tournament we have. Don't over complicate it.

My comments make no sense now

what about calling it the European Cup

and only the winners from each individual league plays in the competition in a knockout competition

then Wenger may take the FA cup seriously instead of seeing it as an achievement in finishing 4th
