Bizarre move, a bit of a sideways step for him.

But how much money than Sunderland can Stoke really offer?
Loic Remy was there in the week but has not signed.

it is a bit of a strange one. Basically we have known for a long time that Steve Bruce doesn't rate Jones. Jones, on his day, can be unplayable. The trouble is that his day seems to come about very, very rarely. By all accounts, when Liverpool and Spurs were after him , he decided he didnt really want to be with us anymore, and that affected his commitment.
Bruce didnt like the lack of effort shown by Jones, and decided to let him go- presumably we have someone in mind to replace him. The transfer fee wasnt particularly large, but in the current market it was all we were likely to get for him. He realised that Bruce didnt want him and so, even though it wasnt the move he wanted, it was better than being left out completely so he went to stoke
He has had to take a pay cut, and bruce was so keen to get rid that he has helped out to make a bit of the difference up

Since he has gone, Bruce has slagged off Rafa Benitez and accused him of being the reason for Jones' attitude change
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... Jones.html. He was especially pissed off that, unlike Spurs, Liverpool didnt even offer to buy the lad- for some reason they thought we might let one of our starting stikers go out on loan, presumably just because we are only here to help out the "big clubs" when they require it
Oh well, we move on. I liked Jones, and he was a good player (when the mood took him), but was too inconsistent. We need to replace him though. I want to see us get two signings in, a striker to replace jones, and n'zogbia (bruce had a press conference where he stated we couldnt afford the money wigan wanted for n'zogbia, and that afternoon the lad put in a transfer request- he likes bruce and it looks like we might pull off what would be a very good signing)

Seems a bit like the Cesc situation with managers unsettling possible new signings

He's shite, he's a waste of money, and given their loss of form last year and issues with Pulis (*word censored*), I think their home form needs to be really good otherwise I can see them being in a relegation dogfight. No great loss to the premiership if relegated tho
