When you went through the turnstiles, what was in front of you? And what was at the back of the terrace? I've heard stories of awful toilets and a green shed but would like to hear from people who stood on the old North Bank.

radford can tell you that you had to climb some stairs before you saw the pitch. he also believes that there were toilets just past the turnstiles

Depends which entrance.
My regular one was just across from the tube, so there was a toilet on the left (cannot remember any hand washing facilities there though?) and a steep staircase in front, with some Arsenal lotto girls waiting at the top.

You know when you were a kid M.I.G, were you one of those who just kept saying to your parents...'But why?'
Don't get me wrong, I love your interest in the past but you must have been a bloody nightmare when you were 9 years old!!
Anyway in answer to your question, Sammy's summed it up nicely!

first stood on the north bank at the end of the sixties. if you came in at the entrance from gillespie rd once inside there was a large toilet block halfway up the stairs. if u went to the right then u would come in next to the west stand. to the left u would enter close to the covered area. there was access around the back of the stand where there was a small staircase allowing u through a sliding door into the back centre of the north bank.
