Well it looks like its going ahead. I have to get from Kings Cross to Baker Street.
Do I take a 30 minute hike? Use one of Boris Bikes? Jump on the bus which is bound to be packed like sardines?or use a black cab?
Anyone else have to find alternative arrangements?

I've signed up for Boris Bikes but don't think the key will be here in time. So it might be a 30 minute hike unless Mr **** can let me know how much a cab will be from Kings X to Maddam Tussauds

I'd advise you to walk. The traffic along the Euston and Marylebone roads will be terrible during a tube strike. It'd be just as quick to walk, and you'll save yourself a tenner.

Thanks Paperclip, I have only been commuting there for about 2 weeks so am not totally clued up about the area. Would you say its advisable to ride one of the Boris Bikes, the only thing is the dodgy Euston underpass.

you wont get 1 of those bikes for love or money.EVERYONE will want them..
The usual fare would be roughly £5-6..But if the traffics knackered,id take ya credit card.

There's a handy bike lane that let's you go over the underpass. As you're approaching, keep to the left so you don't go into the underpass, then at the corner where the traffic is forced left onto Gower Street the cycle lane starts, running alongside the over pass and joins up with the pedestrian crossing going across TCR/Hampstead Rd.
It's not a bad ride because pretty much the entire journey has a bus lane so you don't need to mix it up so much with cars, however from experience cycling on tube strike days causes every driver, cyclist and pedestrian to have brain meltdowns, so keep your wits about you.

When I live in Islington and headed that way I used to use the underpass on my bike. I was a 6th former so not sure if I should have.
Wasn't long until the above bike lane came in force (maybe my fault!)....so I still used the underpass.
I will say I am a very competent cyclist unlike some of the 'Boris newbies'
Anyway, I'd walk it. It's closer then you actually think.
I live near there (off Gt. Portland St.) and a cab from Kings X to there is around £6/£7 pound. So I'd expect the same.
However, it will be busier that day.

Thanks Boomer, the key for Doris Bikes turned up today. So if I get to Kings X and there are bikes knocking around I might use one, if not I'll walk it. I'm going to have to leave Enfield at about 7am at this rate.
