First Arsenal Away Game?

Post by Bring Back Pires »

As I'm bored, a completely random thread.

I'll go first then. I wish I had stories of scarf waving, aggression in the streets and being tumbled down to the front of the stand, but I don't.

In fact, my first away game was Wimbledon 1-3 Arsenal on October 8, 1994. Except we actually sat in the home end, so I'm not sure if it fully counts. This was an era in which the Dons were attracting pitiful attendances (10,000 turned up for this, not even filling half the stadium). Anyway, we just turned up on the day, paid on the gate and that was that. We had a row (and almost a block) all to ourselves. There were actually more Gooners in there than Doners.

The only thing I remember was Kevin Campbell scoring into the stand that was being re-built (and had all the hoarding in front of the demolished stand) after brilliantly controlling it with his hand. Well done Kev.

Sheffield united in the 03' semi final at OT.

was the season after we'd won the league up there so had about 35,000 sticking 'champions section' stickers on every inch of that shithole.
Seaman made THAT save on the line(albeit down the other end,as always  )

good day, good result against a team full of c**** and the ref interfered with the play in the build up to the ljungberg goal with wound warnock up nicely

Nottm Forest in either 98 or 99. Keown scored for us in a 1-1 draw. Was 'big rons' first game in charge for them when he took his seat in our dugout! Have been fucking hooked on aways ever since!

My first away game was:

Everton v Arsenal Carling Cup 8th November 2006. We won 1-0 after a late adebayor winner.

Excluding Sunderland games, my first Arsenal away match (I've only been dragged to two!) was against Newcastle in the FA Cup. Finished 1-1, in the same season that Bergkamp scored his wonder goal against the fuckers iirc- I'm pretty sure your goal was scored by Edu, and i had great fun giving the fingers to the mags. Other one was Roma. Oh aye, and my mate took me to a pre season friendly away at Ibrox a few seasons back come to think of it- Arsenal fucked them by about 3, Rangers missed a penalty, and I think Juan actually played

Middlesbrough, August 18th 2000...me and my mate deided that we would try and do every domestic away that season having only gone to games at Highbury before, decided to take the step up to Superfan. We were 14, so cheap rail tickets and concession price match tickets.

Boro away was the first game of the double season of 2001/2002 and loved it, left from Kings X to Darlington, got on the local rail to Middlesbrough. Was a big adventure being 14 and saw the Riverside stadium as we arrived into the town on the train.

Found our way to the ground and sung ourselves hoarse all the way through...Parlour got sent off and after being 1-0 up for most of the game and being pretty nervy scored 3 late goals to win our first game 4-0. Was brilliant, remember when we scored the second the away end went mental...sung all the way back to the station.

Great memories
