i probably drink 2-3 times a week and will have at least 5 beers if i go to a pub, on weekend matchdays i tend to drink as much as 8-12 pints of average strength lager, i am in my mid 20's (not sure if that is relevant)
Is this too much? how do i compare with fellow onlinegooners
** MODS i meant to put this in basement **

Alcohol......the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems. (Homer Simpson)
Beer is lovely.
I now only drink at weekends. It gives my liver a chance to recouperate.

You got to be kidding
20+ beers a week is less than a normal consumption for your average mid 20-year old.
With regards to comparison. Personally I only drink alcohol on matchdays. My usual intake over the course of the day (7am - 9pm) would be 20+ pints

Back in the day when i could drink my intake was mon, TUE, wed, Thur lunchtimes 4 pints=16 pints. Mon, TUE, wed, Thur evenings an average of 6 pints=24 pints. Fridays in THE pub at 12 have à lockin untill 4 then Back in THE pub at 7 till 11.30 about 15 pints. Sat 3 or 4 pints before footie then Back in THE pub after so another 12 pints. Sunday lunchtime have 3 or 4 with my dad before THE toast then Back in THE evening for 4 or 5 more. Thats 76 pints over à week.....was That drinking too much? Sorry for THE spelling and text doing this on an iphone

in reality there have been matchdays when i have sunk only 6or7 and then there are days when i have drunk more like 16, but an average of about 10, i try never to drink two days in a row but if i end up out till late on friday and game is on sat then i do brake that rule, basically just thinking about my liver!!
can't believe some people are drinking heavy for 4 days in a row - never do so unless i am holiday you must have Kevlar livers!!

Perhaps you should get your liver count checked. Mine should be 40 but its 42, nothing to worry about according to the doctor.
Its a good job because I had a heavy session last night

Government advice is to drink no more than 16 pints or average strength lager per week.

I hardly drink these days, drank more in my teens.

Despite my constant complaints about modern football, I myself am only 26 (so can only remember the tail end of how football should be). I used to drink a lot when at uni (didn't everyone), but now I tend not to drink during the week. When I drink, I like to get drunk, I've never much liked the taste of alcohol so never see the point of having "one or two beers". If i have too many, I get awful hangovers so I need to be careful when I have work the next day, and thus tend to only drink on a week night if there is a Sunderland game on.
I'm even going out less and less on a Friday since I normally have to be up early for football, so Saturday is pretty much the only day I drink. I travel to all the home games (and a fair number of aways), and so on a home match day I will get an 8am train and drink 3 cans on the way to Edinburgh, then I have a 1.5 hour trip to Newcastle, in which I tend to have another 5. This nicely gets me through an 8 pack of lager, and then I get the metro to Sunderland on which you aren't allowed to drink. I get in for about twenty to 12 and so by noon I have made it to the Lambton Worm where I meet my mates, and we probably have around 5 pints whilst discussing the upcoming game/ watching the early kickoff. Around 2 o'clock its off to the stadium, get in for around half past and have a quick bottle of overpriced shite in the stadium. Bearing in mind cans arent quite pints, it means probably a pre match consumption of around 11 or so pints.
Post match it just depends on my plans. If we have lost and I go home, I only have maybe 3 or 4 cans on the way back just to try and stop the headache you get when you've drank quite a lot and then stopped completely. If we've won and I'm going home then I would probably have around 8 more cans on the way back
The only trouble is I often stay in Sunderland until around 8 to have post match drinks with my mates, so would have about 3 or 4 pints with them and then have 4 or so cans on the way home
So on a Saturday anything between 14 and 20 or so pints for home games, and probably similar for aways depending on how I'm getting to the games
Quite a bit I suppose, but as I say I don't drink anything on other days, so it isn't too bad, and sometimes on a Saturday I just feel that I can't much be arsed, at which point I might just have around 7 pre match and 3 afterwards
