I'm off to Lords tomorrow for England v Sri Lanka. Not been to a match for a few years. The last was a JG trip from Arsenal to Lords for a Middlesex Sunday league game.

Looking forward to sitting back in the sunshine with a bag of cold beer at my feet!

Anyone else going?

Sadly not, went to the first game at The Oval, the weather put a dampner on the day despite England's very good performance, they didn't bat well at all on Friday, the total was gettable as it was a very good pitch, let's hope for a better performance tomorrow! :barscarf: :D

I would love nothing more on a hot summers day than to go watch some international cricket with cold beers in hand.

Sadly every time i go it rains.

Cos otherwise the missus would get me doing the grass etc 8) !

As Essex born and bred two matches stick in the memory. A one day final at Lords where I think I broke my PB for alcohol consumption.... even though there was no play that day as it was rained off (had to return on the Monday).

The other was the day Essex won the sunday league with a win at the Oval against Surrey. A lot of West Ham at that one and I recall beer cans raining down on anyone who was foolish enough to walk past at the front. All good natured stuff.

It really is a long time since you went to a game? A bag of cold beer? Unless you buy it from the over-priced, watered-down pumps/bars in the ground you can forget it.
The ECB don't want you drink at cricket, unless you can afford to pay £4 a pint from their own establishment. Cricket days out are not what they used to be!

They only let you bring in 2 pints, but one of my mates has had problems with his ticker and the other prefers to buy it from the bar so I've got 6 bottles of newcastle brown ready and waiting in the fridge already.

Just about to make my sarnies as well. Lords catering will get f*ck all from me!

I have always found the food at Cricket to be perfectly acceptable albeit a tad pricey.

Last time I went it was possible to get a footlong bacon baguettes and 6 rashers of bacon for 4 quid. Happy with that to be honest.

In all honesty, I now prefer watching top quality club cricket. Good standard, no entrance fee, a lot of passion, the odd fight and 2 quid for a beer
