I hope this works, doubt it though. I don't think the idea of spreading the word of the evils of the board to the plebs on only one thread will sit well with Marty. Didn't he say on the other thread that he wouldn't start a blog because he would have a limited audience. To me that reads like, I'm going to bring this shit up everywhere I can so that as many people as possible will see it. Therefore, in my opinion, he won't stick to the one thread because he knows fuck all will read it.

I really hope this works but im not holding out much hope. I also think that any piss taking or joke posts should be deleted too, sorry if that gives you more work mods

I don't think that he wants a bigger audience - because he would get that almost anywhere else than here. It's about having a captive audience - literally.

I'm not aware that USM has 'hijacked' any threads recently and, while he can be a bit long-winded and repetitive, he's not the only one. There are lot of posters who take any and every bit of news as a reason to launch into an 'AW is a c**t' rant. Maybe they should have their own thread and then the AKBs can have theirs and people who can't spell or punctuate theirs and before long we'll all have our own thread and can all talk to ourselves.

imo freedom of speech is more important than isolating people who we don't agree with or find boring.

Over the last year or more there has been loads of thread hijacking along with abusing posters who dont agree with him and then repeating the same stuff again and again followed by more abuse. Yes each individual thread hijack or abuse seems very minor but when youve had it non-stop for a year it builds up. Recent events have been the straw that broke the camels back i suppose.

I tried this with Martin months ago. It will not work.

The other side of the coin with the free speech Spanish Joe is how many people are put off discussing financial topics that are important to Arsenal because Marty will use one his thousand word posts to say not very much about the same thing over and over?

There used to be some good discussions about the board that involved everyone, rather than the usual suspects. Now many posters have have been conditioned away from going anywhere near. The free speech argument is a bit more complex.

The reason this sticky won't work is that Marty has built an identity for years as the prophet of truth regarding the custodians. His moment passed when they sold up and rather than say I told you so, fuck you guys; he chose to be obsessive about his now redundant argument.

This will not work. Marty needs an audience. He won't get one within this thread.

If he carries on infesting other threads with thousand word diatribes (peppered with insults) will he be banned? Is this thread the Last Chance Saloon? Hope so.
