Andy Whitfield has died at the age of 39.

The Welsh-Australian actor, who played the title role in the first season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, passed away on Sunday in Sydney after suffering from non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Whitfield's wife Vashti called her husband a "beautiful young warrior" who died on a "sunny Sydney morning" in the "arms of his loving wife".

Great series,but it looks like there will be no third series

Loved the series Spartacus.

Such a loss to his family only 3 years older than me.

RIP, but there is a 3rd season. it will follow the first season after the gladiators escape. there is a new aussie actor playing spartacus. comes out here in the US in the spring.
