RIP and all that, but the way some people are going on its like their God (yes, I've seen him referred to as that today) has died.

Changed the world? Really?! Come on...

Agreed, mp3 players were around before ipods, he just made a very popular version, and internet phones were bound to be successful, again, he just made a popular version (I dont even think his were the first smart phones, and they certainly werent the first touchscreens). He was good at selling, which makes him a good businessman and he was good at spotting trends and capitalising on them, but thats about it.

As a bloke he always seemed a bit up his own arse tbh, maybe the BBC were being a bit harsh by including this on their obituary page, but it pretty much covers it: "unlike his contemporary, Microsoft's Bill Gates, Steve Jobs showed little inclination to use his personal wealth for philanthropic purposes. And, strangely for a self-professed Buddhist, he did not embrace environmental concerns, with Apple coming under fire from Greenpeace for its reluctance to produce easily recyclable products."

So aye, I've got nowt against the bloke particularly so along with every other bloke who will die today I hope he can R.I.P. but I've seen some shite on facebook and the likes with people getting hysterical over the fact that a businessman who was pretty self centred by all accounts has died.

A brilliant man, but not necessarily a "great" man. RIP to one of history's brightest inventors, however.

Wellll yes, they are But, I prefer Strawberry's :D

I think he brought many positive contributions and much progressive thinking and change to his field of expertise....and had an 'eye' for form as well as content, but the bottom line (for me) is that he died too young.

He made a speech at Stanford Uni some years ago...and although 20+ mins long is well worth a LookSee. Link below.

Christ almighty! Look, RIP to anyone that dies - but the cybergeeks are losing the fucking plot on this one. The bloke basically took other people's inventions and made them commercially popular. Well done, but hardly on a par with the invention of the wheel or porn is it?
