Wolves game in doubt

Post by Wengerball »

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16256698.stm

The Wolves game may face having to be delayed until 27th December

"Arsenal will decide within 48 hours whether to delay their Boxing Day match with Wolverhampton Wanderers because of a proposed tube strike.

Trade union Aslef has announced industrial action that could shut down the London underground system.

A club spokesman told BBC Sport: "Arsenal are considering postponement to 27 December as one of the options."

Chelsea say they are monitoring the situation ahead of their Boxing Day derby against Fulham."

It's gonna be a pain in the arse for me if it's moved to the 27th, probably won't be able to make it, have bought a ticket too :banghead:

Why do they need to wait 48hrs anyway? Surely they know now what the situation will be?

Tube train drivers already get fantastic wages for doing fuck all.

How difficult is it to sit on your arse in a cab and do stopping and starting?

You can't even take a wrong turn and end up in Dover.

Fucking blackmailing bastards.

Allegedly they are also getting a nice few bob extra just for not going on strike during the London Olympics.

*word censored*. :banghead:

Any tickets can be refunded if returned to the box office 72hrs before kick off.

I also pretty sure any tickets for a rescheduled/postponed game can be refunded.

Well, Wenger always seems to hit the stop button around January time. Five months too early...

I'll be delighted if they move it to the 27th!!
I think they're holding off the decision because they are still talking to the union to try to get them to call it off?

They do earn a fantastic wage but that is because of the responsibilty the job entails and the horrid working enviroment they are in. How much do you propose they should be paid and what justifies that amount?

It is a very simple job but incredibly repetative and mundane, which can lead to errors. In the event of errors, drivers can be subject to disciplinary action.

The job does not just involve "stopping and starting" but working in appalling conditions, awful unsociable shifts, random drink and drug tests (meaning no beers the night before work), continual written and practical assessments, being expected to be able to remedy mechanical problems with the trains and being responsible for thousands of peoples safety every day.

Drivers can accept an incorrect routing and head towards an incorrect station. It is their responsibility to ensure this does not happen.

Many companies are agreeing 2012 payrises to help prevent industrial action so this would make sense.

Good luck to them I say, London Underground makes millions in profit so rewarding staff who have to work over Christmas whilst everyone else enjoys themselves is only fair in my opinion.

Power to the workers!!!

Sorry but please let's not pity the tube drivers.

Yes, they do work unsociable hours for which they already get paid a premium.

As with any other responsible person, no they cannot drink before transporting the public around. And so?

If I make a serious error at work I can expect disciplinary action taken against me, as can you.

They have competence tests at work......similar to many industries.

Many people have to now work over Christmas and many have had to for years before, what's new?

You want to know the real difference..........

Bob Crow, the self-serving piece of shit who rakes in £100k a year plus before perks and still deems himself worthy of a council house and refuses to part with it due to a technicality.

Power to the people Bob that puts his birthday party in Mayfair on the company credit card!

Power to the workers, don't make me laugh! I am all for trade unions but this self-serving dinosaur could not give a fuck about solidarity brother.

The more strikes, the more publicity he puts on himself which the deluded think makes him some kind of demi-god and so his wages go up again!

Bob Crow is the leader of the RMT trade union.

ASLEF are the trade union proposing the tube driver industrial action, not RMT.

Anyone who is part of Bob Crow's membership will disagree with your comment about solidarity. Any trade union is only as strong as its membership. RMT members stick together to ensure it's strength.

If being a tube driver is so easy and great, why are we all not jumping on the gravy train? Because the aptitude tests prove that only very few applicants possess the skills and abilites needed to do the job, thus justifying their salaries.
