steak and ale pie

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

steak and ale pie

Post by brazilianGOONER »

can anyone give me a tip on a good recipe to make a tasty steak and ale pie? of course i can google it, but if there's any that you've already tried and can vouch for...

i tried a couple a year ago when i was in london and it's one of the best stuff i've ever had :barscarf:

this one was probably the best i had, in a pub in putney:

Where was that bG?

If you want great pub food in Putney the Spencer Arms is quality. Down by the common. Go there most Sundays for a roast by the open fire!

He's asking for a recipe not a recommendation for pubs 10,000 miles away from where he lives

I know you're looking for recipes more that links to websites bG but I happened to see an episode of "The Hairy Bikers" a couple of weeks ago which was dedicated to pies. I swear to God my mouth was watering looking at it, if you don't get any suitable recipe try googleing their recipe.

don't think i went to the spencer arms, but i remember walking past it.

can't remember the name of the one in the picture mate, but it's very close to the tube station, on the other side of the street. it has a little fireplace in the middle of the pub. i fucking loved it, it's where i would have my breakfast almost everyday :barscarf: i have a couple of pics on facebook, can't look here 'cause facebook's blocked at work.

there were some cute girls in that pub in one of the evenings, and as a common (and mildly drunk) latin american i obviously had no problem in introducing myself and you know, trying to spread my midget genes into england, but unfortunately they were not interested in a pale fat 5ft 5in bald stupid-sounding brazilian with his teeth broken in half (damn demanding english girls!)

Would that be the Citizen Smith? At the crossroads of Upper Richmond Road and the High St? Or maybe the Fox and Hounds or the Railway? Nice joints all, the Fox is top drawer for a few pints and some pool. Unfortunately the Railway is full of Neanderthal Chelsea scum on bans from the football.

i think i'm going for this one:

looks good, it's easy to make and i won't have a hard time finding any of the ingredients over here except maybe for the frozen puff pastry, but if that becomes a problem i can easily improvise.

I remember you telling me it was the Citizen Smith.

Try using Guinness instead of ale. Much tastier.
