Tottenham Away Procedures
Tottenham Away Procedures
Sorry if I sound like a rookie here, but tonight is my first trip to the lane.
Basically, my brother hasn't decided if he will come tonight or not, and wants to know how things work getting away from the ground.
Anyone know if we'll be kept behind after the game while the spurs fans clear? Also I heard before that Arsenal fans are escorted by police away from the ground afterwards? I know this was the case for one match but is it a regular thing or was it a one off?
Any info on this or anything else would be appreciated.
Cheers

doubt very much beer will be served in the away end.
as for being held in - probably not tonight due to -
1. it being a night game. the longer they keep away fans in the later the rozzers get home, so they won't want to do that
2. first leg - nothing decided. things might be different next week.
with it being a night game, i expect a decent police presence which should stop the hail of bottles that often accompanies the away entrance/exit. your main worry should be getting identified as an away fan once you are away from the stadium. my tip - buy a programme (if you buy a programme) in the spurs shop and get a spurs shop carrier for it. obviously don't wear colours. don't talk about the game on your way home to anyone. pretend you are having a conversation on a mobile phone with someone about work matters if things start looking edgy. basically, look unconcerned and try to avoid direct eye contact.
the spuds fans are animals that would not think twice about sending you to the dentist as an emergency case within an hour of the final whistle. they are bitter and twisted morons whose only way of feeling good about the balance of football power in north london is to lamp a gooner.
basically, be savvy, watch yourself and don't think you can get away with anything. you are a walking target and if these morons are in any doubt they will just hit you to be on the safe side.
be careful and let us know how you got on tomorrow.

forgot to mention, the police will probably allow the two sets of fans to merge quite quickly. doubt you will be forcefully marched anywhere, although they might send arsenal fans in one direction initially (towards the high road) rather than allowing them to turn left out of the away exit. difference between arsenal at the lane and spuds at highbury is that arsenal fans being mainly civilised human beings don't try and smash up the larger part of N17. spuds fans are mainly pondlife who delight in nothing more than casuing destruction . if you don't believe me, take a look at the away section toilets after wednesday night next week. arsenal will already have placed an order to replace the inevitable damage. so police feel easier about letting arsenal fans make their own way from the lane without fear of vandalism. not much good for the protection of innocent lives mind.

I endorse comments of gooner ed.
meeting up with mate later inc woman Sally who normally wears arsenal gear wherever we play. she thought i was winding her up when i told her no way would i walk down the high road with her if she is wearing anything associated with arsenal. she reckoned as a woman she would be ok. she has never been to scum`s toilet before. fortunately my friends endorsed what i said and so like rest of us she will give no indication of being gooner while on way to or from game. its sad but true and the only ground in this country probably whole of europe where gooners have to take such safety precautions
they are a bunch of bitter brainless violent envious morons.
never forget travelling on the tube after sol`s 1st game back at the toilet seeing middle aged men carrying balloons with "judas" .
can you imagine any gooner being so moronic-impossible.

Thanks for the info all guys.
To be honest, I'm not too worried about getting trouble from spuds fans (im a fairly big boy going with a few more fairly big boys). Just curious about what will happen after seeing as I have to get up at 5am for work tomorrow, so would rather not have to waste an extra hour getting home.
Thanks again for the info

I agree with the above comments-Shite hart lane is a hell-hole,which is a nightmare to get in an out of. I normally get a tube to Finsbury Park then get a 259 or 279 bus to right outside the ground. After the game is more difficult as the high road is shut to traffic so you have to walk to Seven Sisters station. Dont wear colours.this is the scums biggest game of the season. There is real hatred in the air. Good luck

you'll be able to get away quite quickly if that's what you want. spuds fans are totally indiscriminate about which arsenal fans they attack. it can be completely random. women, children, oaps, 7 foot tall bodybuilders. that won't make any difference. however, safety in numbers is always a protection of sorts if you stay on the main drag as that's the one area there is some kind of police presence, at least for the first 100 yards heading south. i'd still be tempted not to make it obvious you are a gooner even if you think you can take care of yourself. these animals hunt in packs.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sound all tough etc. I definitely won't be wearing colours, and definitely will be trying to avoid any potential trouble from knobheads. I just meant that I'm not worrying about it.
And I do appreciate all the safety tips. I didn't meen to come across as being an arrogant, macho type because I'm not.
Thanks again

Scum stuffing
I went to shite hart lane about three or four seasons back and I would certainly go again. All of the above re: their fans, wearing colours, getting away afterwards is right. But it's great giving them stick and even though there was a fair bit of trouble, it only added a bit of spice! Yeah, obviously I didn't get hit!
The one thing that suprised me afterwards was the lack of any police and really how difficult it is to get away easily. Now considering at the time I was living in enfield, it still took me an hour! Although, that might have been because I decided (after I saw the first fews gooners getting slapped almost immediately) that I'd rather get arrested than beat up. I sparked up a fat bifter and watched in amazement as the crowd in front parted to let the stoner through! Saw lots of dumb scum running about hitting out randomly, but luckily - considering I was on my own - I got away without a scratch.
I had also been a bit lucky as I turned up a little bit late to the game and missed the stoning and bottle throwing the scum decided to greet us with.
All in all, have a great one, it might get a bit hairy, but it's worth it!
