ALMUNIA

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

the "KNUT" thread has died

Good fucking news, wonder who's next in the firing line? This time Wenger will be ruthless to mediocrity , I can feel it.

Diaby?

6 fucking years too late.

Its amazing that for 3 years Arsenal's number 1 and 2 keepers were Average and Flappy.Hope they enjoy their new job with Billy Smart

Gavin Hoyte released too, an awful lot of our promising youngsters end up in the lower leagues its scary yet Wenger talks them up as the future of the club.

well he's older brother, creamed the club for a few thousand, before the dopey bastards, realised he was shit and sold him for £1m to Middlesboro

why do we always seem to give these players 4 or 5 years to prove themselves - before letting them go for virtually eff all..

look at Vela - joins Arsenal, goes out on loan to spain, come's back, goes out on loan to WBA, comes back again gets RVP number 11 shirt, goes out on loan to spain again

surely the penny will drop, this bloke will never be a regular first teamer at Arsenal :banghead:

Almunia did show signs of being a very good goalkeeper when he has Lehmann to challenge for the number 1 gloves but when he got the spot full time and Lehmann left he had no one to push him, Flappy isn't good enough and by the time Chezza came through Almunia was past crap.

Agreed. I still maintain he had a couple of seasons of being a decent PL keeper - certainly not as bad as that absolute fucking loser Fabianski that I despise with every bone in my body. Problem again as you rightly highlight is that he had no competition and thats dangerous for a guy who was never good enough to be a no-brainer no.1 at a Champions League level club
