Ok apart from the controversy of this ''handshake'' the one thing that winds me up is that she always has to don gloves to shake hands no matter who's hand she's shaking...

You know the hooker protocol don't you Frank?

It's extra to have the gloves taken off. Same as open mouth kissing.

Fuck me. Half a dozen or so replies into this thread and it has already descended into a sex related den of iniquity. Give CorkBarry until 09.00 hrs tomorrow and there will be a titty gif on it.

At least this thread didn't go off into a xenophibic fuckahoop... :|

My opinion on it? I detest both the murdering IRA (and the murdering UVF) and the very concept of royalty (no matter what nationality). Regarding royalty, how so many sheep can bow down to a person because of a fluke of birth is beyond me but hey, whatever floats their boat... it's their choice.

It is a very significant moment in the peace process in this Island. Republicans have to learn to accept that Loyalists do pay honour to the Queen and in turn Loyalists need to learn to accept that Republicans don't. Both cultures need to be accepting and respectful of the other or we will very quickly slip back into murder and mayhem again.

Peace can only be built on a foundation of reconcilliation, forgiveness and respect. If these two shaking hands can help avoid even one more person being murdered, because of their religion or political persuasion, then it is a good thing.

Its a difficult one and sticks in my throat a bit :? Personally i do not agree with the queen shaking a terrorists hand I think it should have been done by the next generation of politicians who dont have blood directly on those hands that were shaken, if Bin Laden had lived for another 30 years and become a politician in Afghanistan would you see an American President shake his hand i doubt it.

All this said as DB10 says if it stops more lives being lost and helps people become more tollerant then its a shitty step worth taking

one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter ,and like db10 i also never had time for the ira or other terrorists who took lives in a fight for irish freedom , but time moves on and the whole island is a better place now since the mindless killing has stopped and we have to give credit to the likes of both politicians pictured among others who all had something to do with the peace process,

by the way he spoke gaelic to her and she nodded away happy as if she understood what he was saying :D
