I did post this on the music thread, but thought it might be missed by those who would be miffed if they miss it....so this is just a temporary thread (Sorry Mods)

, but it's all in a worthy cause.
For anyone that likes or even has a vague interest in "The Who", this is a Brilliant watch....
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... e_Real_Me/
It expires Midnight 8th July 2012...
I've always liked the music of The who, but this really is an absorbing and excellent insight into the album/story of Quadrophenia and the writing/composing/recording of it AND the band in that period of their history, very poignant, poetic, sad, funny etc as one might expect.
10/10 for me.

It was the day after my sisters 14th Birthday and Dad thought we might like to go along, so there were my parents and the three of us kids all 14 and under watching the Who

I also remember Pete Townsend in white Jeans and DM's playing the guitar like a man possessed

At the time it didn't seem so significant but now many years on it's always a cool memory that it was my first gig.

How true...something to tell the grandchildren as they say!
I am - or perhaps I should now say 'was' held in mucho esteem by my nieces and nephews when they discovered that my first three live Gigs/ Bands were:
1. The Four Tops (with Martha reeves and the Vandella's AND (a very young) Stevie Wonder supporting)
(a few months later)
2. The Who
(4 months later)
3. Deep Purple (knocked off school to hitch a lift and get there, then not realising I couldn't get in a) not accompanied by an adult b) not enough money to bribe a student (they were playing a Students Union tour) to get me in, so I sneaked in through the toilet windows at the back of the building. Got home 3am in the morning soaking wet - caught flu and got a belting from my father AND what they now call 'Grounded'...But, it was worth it.

Great band, until Townsend was outed as a paedo - I don't see them in the same light anymore
Townsend just as much filth as Glitter, King and the other music / TV nonces out there who haven't been outed yet

He said he was "researching" for a book which has never materialised.

Few years back think before Entwhistle died.

I'm pretty sure he was cleared of all the charges against him. The most underrated rock guitarist. Was fortunate enough to see them do quadrophinia in its entirety at Hyde Park in '95. Quite brilliant.

shows what our judical system is really like, the bloke openly admitted to paying too view child porn on the net, but got cleared because he said it was for research purpose, should be vindicated like those other nonces
