London 2012 OLYMPICS

Looking forward to them, ambivalent, or looking forward to getting away?

Anyone going to an event?

Most Olympic lanes are now on the roads, and judging from the extent of them it is not going to be fun at all driving in London during the games, the traffic jams will be horrendous.

I like the Athletics, watch the Boxing finals, and will keep an eye on the Football.
Doubt I will see much of the rest of it.

Conspiracy theories of a false flag terrorist attack are well underway too.

Havent given it much thought tbh, I'm sure when it starts it will sweep the nation and no doubt be only a good thing for the country.

I am not excited about hosting the games at the moment. Perhaps because we have had many years to get use to it and the fact that there has not been much time to take a breath since the end of the footy season, what with The London marathon, Euro 2012, Silverstone, and tennis having all taken place recently.

What I do look forward to is glorious successes from our athletes and surprise medal winners.
The playing of the national anthem at award ceremonies.
Ladies beach volleyball and stretched legs during long jump and triple jump. :D
All of the sprint races and the footy too.
Nailing the opening and closing ceremonies.

As I am 1/4 mile, as the crow flies, from the stadia, and the same distance from Fred Wigg tower, I am concerned about the military having air to surface missiles situated in Leytonstone.
I have concerns about the summer riots taking place during the games.
I hate the idea that local businesses are having to pay up to £800 for the privilege of parking at their place of work.
The A12 being partially closed and bus lanes for Olympic officials use.
False flags and terrorist attacks.
The olympic village being sold off to developers instead of being affordable social housing, (as previously promised).
The huge rise in burglaries that are increasing week on week during the lead up to the game.
The local 'tom' population has increased dramtically.
The increased noise from the helicopters above during the night as well as the day.

The benefit to my community?
Local park has been given a facelift, but the drunks still sit there day and night.
Pavements and parking has been improved, if you think that allowing cars to park on pavements is an improvement.
Reinforcements of parking wardens on motorcycles, but no local plod.
At least some shop fronts have been tarted up.
Prices in the local mart increasing.
Stratford being a no go zone for the locals.
Albanians arriving in their hordes.
The corporates, their flunkeys and anyone with a few million quid being made to feel more of a part of this celebration of athletics, than the people who will still live here after the circus has left town.

A special word for Dwaine Chambers. Cheat, put him in stocks at Westfield. :cussing:

Moan,moan, moan. :blah: :blah:

Nuts :banghead:

So the fact I don't have any track and field ticket now mean that there's no way I can get in right? Or can they be got by dubious means?
