RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Yeah! They were HIT making machine..

I was raised on Motown & Stax in my early years by my older brother... My first 45rpm was Reach Out(I'll Be There) by The Four Tops just one of many Holland Dozier Holland hits... The Four Tops were also the very first band I saw perform Live.

R.I.P

No one posted about Olivia Newton John ?

Have watched Grease several times when I was younger - I always preferred her as Sandy ha, ha but then I’m not a fan of permed hair

Seemed a really nice person too in interviews and stuff RIP

My mate and fellow Gooner Joe died from ALS just 18 months after being diagnosed. To watch a fit healthy active bloke just shrink into himself and deteriorate like that was one of the worst things I've ever seen. Horrific disease.

My sentiments exactly!
The whole media and public outpouring if emotion is ridiculous!
People on their knees at the palace, crying their eyes out over at 90+ old lady who didn't know they even existed.
Also the tributes, I think it was Jeffrey Donaldson (a bigoted DUP politician) who said something along the lines of it being "the saddest day in northern irelands history"
Dear Jesus Christ over 3500 murdered here during the troubles, atrocities like Bloody Sunday, Kingsmill, to name but two and this fucking idiot thinks the passing if someone in the 90s is sadder than all that!
In fact on the same day she died, there was a local news story about a 21 year old man being killed in a car crash when on his way to the hospital to pick up his wife and their newborn baby! That's what I call sad, devastating and heartbreaking!
Add to that all the sport cancelled and tv schedules fucked!
Yes thanks for that Maam

My Dad died from brain cancer last week. A through-and-through Gooner for his entire life. Worked the turnstiles at Highbury back in the 80s. Season ticket holder right up until the move to the Emirates. Devastated is an understatement.

Rest in Peace Dad. x

Ah Jesus. I'm so sorry to hear that man. I lost my dad to that terrible disease 14 years ago and know exactly what you are going through. It will hurt terribly for a long time but you will get through it and the pain will eventually turn into a kind of strange warm nostalgic sadness where you remember the good times and the good things about him without it hurting so much.

Sounds like your dad was a top bloke, raised you a Gooner, and loved his club. Alot to be thankful for there.

May he rest in peace.
