My mum is 63 blind and lives on incapacity benefit and a measly pension.

Ten year back she took out a credit card which I tried to say not to do but being headstrong sometimes can be a downfall.

Anyway for the last three years she has been paying a debt collection agency called Scotcall (I was unaware of this) and has paid £100 every month with 1300 left to pay. She refuses my money to help her.
Anyway yesterday some *word censored* from Glasgow rang her demanding that she pay more to end the debt.

Despite the fact she hasn't missed a payment for three years this twat bullied her into getting more and making her cry and confused. He asked her what she spent her money on, why she shopped at Sainsbury and that she should shop at Lidl and worst of all stated that he didn't believe she needed to eat BROWN BREAD and it's better to eat economy white.

My mum lost her rag and told him where to shove his opinion....

Then rang me very distraught.

I called Scotcall to complain and i got this reply....

It's not your debt sir so mind your own business!!!!

Seriously!!

Then.....the twat put the phone down on me!

I have read sammy of banks here in ireland doing exactly the same thing asking people to change where they shop, and other stuff like telling them to cancel their sky subscriptions stuff like that, scum of the earth is all they are.

If she is paying them the agreed fee of £100 whats their fucking problem? They are just being sneaky bastards because its an elderly lady who they think they can push around to get more money, sickening really and id certainly make a complaint to the regulators on the pricks. I cant see how its their business where she shops if she makes every payment. I can see why the banks over here are telling people to cancel Sky when they are coming to them claiming not to be able to repay their mortgage but these fellas just sound like scum

Just an idea sammy's but why not put their telephone number on here...and we'll all call at various times of the night and day - do you have this *word censored* name? - and make their life hell for Ooooh! let's say till we get bored ...and what with the footie season ages away...I'm sure we could all keep it going till Aug 31st at least!

Sorry that your mum and yourself are getting trouble from this scumbag of a debt recovery company... I've google'd this mob before, they are scum of the highest order who prey on vunerable people... I hope this gets resolved mate.. (just google this mob you'll see a load of shit about them) good luck mate.

The above link is about the company chasing statue barred debts... they pick these debts up for pennies then chase people for the debt, even though they're not allowed to (by law), in the hope that the debtor (or sometimes not even the correct person) will crack and start the debt cycle again (which gets reset if the person starts paying again, even though after 6 years it's statue barred) anyway.. they're filth and scum...

The above link is about the company chasing statue barred debts... they pick these debts up for pennies then chase people for the debt, even though they're not allowed to (by law), in the hope that the debtor (or sometimes not even the correct person) will crack and start the debt cycle again (which gets reset if the person starts paying again, even though after 6 years it's statue barred) anyway.. they're filth and scum...

Tell them to fuck off. Reduce payments to £1.00 per month (they can't take anyone to court as long as payments are being made regularly). Credit card debts have been thrown out of court recently. That legal ruling means that debt chasers are pissing against the wind.

If Scotcall have purchased the debt then they are not acting on behalf of the original creditor. They probably paid in the region of 3% to 5% of the original debt in order to chase the whole debt. In which case.....they are already in profit.

Write a letter of complaint to one of the Scotcall directors in the link above. With a visible copy to the Office of Fair Trading, your local MP , the Ombudsman and anyone else you can think of. Mention the unnecessary stress and the potentially harmful effects on health that they have inflicted upon your mum. Also invasion of privacy. Food shopping is none of their business They will probably leave your mum alone after that little lot. The *word censored*.
