Bucket list

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Bucket list

Post by StuartL »

So, I'm 45 next birthday and thinking that I should do my list of things that I want to do, places I want to see, things to accomplish while I still have most of my faculties remaining.

Has any forum member already done their list ?

What is on it that they have done ?

Any (HALF SENSIBLE, I do realise it is asking a lot) suggestions to add to my meagre list ?

Ride on an Elephant
Feed a Tiger
Have a helicopter ride
Visit the pyramids
Visit Maccu Pichu (peru)
Visit Chichen Itza (mexico)
Visit Stonehenge
See the Who live
Visit the cavern club , Liverpool to see where the Beatles performed.

I have already ticked off

Parachute jump
Swim with dolphins
Hot air balloon ride
See Arsenal win the league
See Arsenal win the FA Cup
Visit Colleseum / Rome

Machu Picchu and the Amazon were always my no.1 and 2 on my bucket list, so visiting Peru was always a no brainer. Finally got there in 2010, and Machu Picchu was even more breathtaking than I thought possible 8)

I took this photo (and climbed the peak behind Machu Picchu, called Huayna Picchu)...

Image

Still on my list are...

African Safari
Rio de Janiero
Trek in the Sahara Desert
Pyramids (it's the only wonder of the world left standing!)
See Uluru/Ayers Rock and the Australian outback

and a real bucket list dream would be to follow in the footsteps of Phileas Fogg and travel around the world in eighty (one  ) days. Not going to happen, but I like the romance of the idea and used to adore Jules Verne's book as a child.

Oh, and see Arsenal win the European Cup. I've been lucky enough to witness Arsenal winning FA Cups and league titles, but to win the European Cup would be the icing on the cake.

Can't say I've really thought of what would be on mine - or probably ticked off one thing that would go on it!

Actually one thing that I am glad is that I managed to visit the old Wembley (3 times). I imagine the vast majority of those on here have been there, but I'm glad I got the chance to go there before it was demolished and the older I get the fewer people around that will have been. Same with Highbury I guess :(

I'd love to see Wales play in a World Cup one day but obviously not really within my control. I would probably put a Lions Tour down (probably NZ) and a trip to Aus to watch at least part of an Ashes game.

Outside of sport there's nothing I'd be desperate to do but if I was to travel I think it'd be India - love the food and the quieter, local (and low cost!) nature appeals to me.

Never really thought about it, but here's what I would put on mine (these are likely to be football related):

Attend a North London Derby
Go to Burussia Dortmunds Westfallen Stadium in the stand where the 'yellow wall' is
Meet Thiery Henry in person
Watch Top Gear at Dunsfold live
Drive a Bugatti Veyron (or any supercar really)

Cant really think of any more, just easy pleased :D

Rest assured Stuart you are not on your own - I hit the 45 the other day and went through your same thinking a couple of years ago which has seen me do my 3 big ones within the space of 12 months - finishing with the arsenal Newcastle game last December.

They were - Surf at Waimea Bay on a big (ish) day - tick, Ski an advanced run at Zermatt - tick, see Arsenal in person with my son after following them since i was 12 - tick

The one still to achieve is run out as the number 6 (positionally - not as Koscielny) for Arsenal - I am a little concerned that my club is yet to receive an offer from AW this window, particularly as I've been in form - I do hope he doesn't have a hang up about older players....

PS Memo to Wenger - after 36 season i think they'll let me go on a free and the wage structure won't need adjusting.
