Arsenal have fully agreed personal terms with Gabriel Jesus on a contract until 2027. The deal is 100 percent done. Edu & Mikel Arteta were key for the deal. [@FabrizioRomano] #afc

I think Jesus will be a very good signing for us. Just sign another 'big' striker now to compliment him!!

I regret to say, but I do not think that is going to happen. Farteta sees Jesus as the answer to all our attacking problems: lack of goals etc. I still think he has not addressed our urgent needs in this transfer window.

We need/ed a Marshall in mid-field and whilst Vieira looks like he has skills etc, we needed someone in the mode of Kante or Bissouma, whom the swamp dwellers have snapped up for a bargain.

I genuinely hope I am wrong, but I just don't see Jesus as being the type of striker that we need. :?

I dont understand that - are you saying a big striker is needed to play alongside him ? If so then you are suggesting either changing tactics to a 2 man forward line, or you are suggesting that he is playing wide of a main striker in which case he is playing instead of either saka, smith-rowe or martinelli :? My reality remains that the guy has NOT got the physical tools to play the 9 position in a front 3

In isolation Jesus is a very good signing. Getting a PL proven player, with 4 titles under his belt and with his peak years still ahead of him is good business. His goal scoring record though not outstanding is decent and his ability to relentlessly press and his work rate would suit our playing style.

Having said that, Jesus wouldn't be my first, second or even third choice if we are signing just 1 striker this window. I would have preferred a target man like Vlahovic, Nunez or Osimhen who would be a specialist central striker, and a goal scorer rather than someone who is versatile and can play across the front 3.

Starting the season with Jesus and Nketiah as our striker is a huge huge risk and could backfire badly on Arteta. I get the idea that the goal scoring should be distributed across the team and the likes of Saka, ESR , Martinelli and Raphinha if we sign him can definitely add goals to the tally. But this team needs a qualified goal scorer who would contribute 20+ goals in a season which I am not convinced that Jesus is.

🚨 || Marseille are already moving onto other targets, after being told by Arsenal there isn’t any negotiation for William Saliba. It is a non-starter [Via - @FabrizioRomano].

The bloke who cuts my hair is a Marseille supporter and he's been telling me all year that there is no way they will sign Saliba on a permanent deal because they haven't got the money and that apparently, part of the loan deal has been us paying almost all the wages and living costs because he's coming back to London. He also told me that Marseille have a history of not really having much money but making bids in the summer for players just to flex their muscles. He's been raving about Saliba all year but reckons Guendouzi could be a player but spends too long trying to impress the fans.

Augie - No, I'm saying I'd like us to sign a big, decent striker to give us another option, a plan B. Yes, Jesus and a big striker could probably go well together in a 442 or 424 formation or even a 532, but I'd just like us to have another way of playing other than wingers with a small striker, it's a bit predictable and easy to play against with a deep block.

The bloke who cuts my hair is about a hundred times more reliable than anything that makes the transfer rumours pages of the papers or some of that Twitter fucking bollox. As for the cut, no, just a bit off the sides and keep it fresh on top. I'm 40. Those trendy barnets are for people half my age or weird foreigners.

Let’s just hope that the weight of expectation that comes from sharing the same shirt number as those previous legends isn’t too much for him

I never doubted he would return, he has really progressed , probably quicker than he would gave done over here so clearly a successful loan. Looking forward to seeing him this year.

Whilst I don't believe Saka will be sold this summer, if he was, it would be a sackable offence on behalf of Martinez-Lite and Edutard.

I do believe though if we persist with Martinez-Lite then Saka and Martinelli will both be gone within two years.
Welcome to the party DB, but you neglected to add ESR to that list. Sadly, Arteta’s going nowhere, so Martinelli and ESR will get limited game time (if we get Raphina to add to the Vieira signing) and I can’t see them hanging around and killing their careers. There’ll be plenty of takers amongst the big boys.

As for Saka, he’s not gonna fuck about scrapping for somewhere between 5th and 8th position, when one of the CL sides would happily snap him up tomorrow.

I’d like to keep all three, but Martinelli is the one that I’d least like to lose, even though Arteta has already stunted his development and I doubt we’ll ever see the best of him at the Arsenal. Similar story with ESR in my opinion.

🚨 Arsenal have submitted a £35m bid for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez. Arsenal are ahead of Manchester United in the battle for Martinez’s signature & are hopeful their offer will be accepted by Ajax. [@DiscoMirror] #afc
